7 posts in this topic

I have been reading the other threads cant get the strait scoop

I want to make the yz more user friendly in the woods

I saw something about a auto decomp what is that about,

also would the milder cam and heavier flywheel be the way to go

The 426 has the same cam in the Wr and YZ. The timing is different.

Now the 450 uses different cams and different timing. Your best bet is a heavy flywheel weight and an autodecomp cam.

You will just need the exhaust cam from either a WR or YZ 450. The cams are different on the 450's so if you want low end torque, get the Wr cam. The YZ cam cant be timed differently like you could on the 426. Try the cam first, then a weight if you need it. It will help alot.

The 03 450 exhaust cam will help with starting and add some low end torque. I installed one last year and it works great for the starting issues. I had a 12oz flywheel on my bike and liked it a lot, until I installed a Rekluse Z-start auto clutch. Take a look at a Z-Start - It is by far the best money ever spent!

If you are looking for a flywheel I have a 12oz steahly for sale. PM me

I have used the WR450 exhaust cam in my 426 this year. It is a large imnprovement over the stock YZ cam for the woods. It really pulls right off idle very strong and is fairly linear all the way up. It is worth it just for the ease of starting as well.
