WR 450 horsepower

was wandering how much horsepower the WR puts out is it more then the XR 650R

Heard it somewhere in the mid to upper 30's before 'free mods'. Can get over 50hp with some major modding...can't tell ya anything about the 650. I would guess it would be more hp simply cause of the CC difference. Found this blurb about an '00 model XR

"In stock trim, the 650 makes 43 horsepower at 6750 rpm. Peak torque arrives 1250 revs earlier at 5500 rpm"

It's around 60HP at the crank, probly ~45 RWHP after the uncorking, etc....

does the WR have a speedometer if not how much would one cost ?

stock YZ450 puts out 47,2 rear wheel

No speedo on my 05.

Mine dynoed at 26.5 stock.

33.9 with the "free mods" and

35.3 with the YZ cam swap.

I just use the numbers for a reference more or less to see if I have more or less...

You can get a descent one for less than $50, I paid $75 for the TraiiTech Endurance speedo.

Is that the trailtech computer. I am thinking of buying one. Do you like it? Do I have to buy the billet cause it will break on the first crack up. Give some info please.

I'm also interested in the trailtech computer set up. The bracket that comes with it, is it any good? Is there a different bracket that is better? Sorry for all the question.....

Yes, the TrailTech has been great for street and dirt riding. The only downside is that it will not illuminate at night, I have heard there's a way to get it lit up though if you're creative. If you have an '04 like I do you can mount it right where the stock odometer was without a problem. What I don't have is that billet cover for it which looks really nice. It's not a 'must' have but it looks like it mounts a bit more out in the open and is obviously stronger.

I was kinda in a rush to get my bike up on the road so I didnt look into the billet at the time. That may be something I get on my next shopping spree if I keep the bike.

The billet mount is perfect! Great protection. Looks good as well.

my 02 wr426 got 41 with the free mods on my buds dyno so i guess the 450 would make a couple more then that

With the same kind of investment to mods, the 650R will probably always produce more HP... these XR are HP monsters!

But they are also quite heavier.

On a straight line, the 426 gets the advantage when the speed is still under 50mph but then, bye bye... the 650R still accelerates like it was still in first gear up to 90 mph...Wr are powerfull but the 200cc difference eventually catches up..

Both bikes have very different but also amazing power delivery. The WR snaps more than the XR that rather torques.

Roger, Roger on 650 HP MATH, you better be ready to go fast if you get the 650, not that the 450 is slow but the 650 will have you going 100 MPH before you know it. It does'nt seem that heavy at 100. It seems really heavy at 10 MPH though.

Big Jim

The "pipe" shootouts for the 650R have it making 50-51 hp at the rear wheel. A few (loud) pipes make a bit more I think. Torque is probably the biggest difference, not that the two bikes are really in the same category. There's no replacement for displacement!

the 2001 xr650r has 61 horsepower. found it off www.bikez.com so go check for yourself.theres also info like that available for the wr450 also.

Not at the rear wheel. 62 hp is Honda's ad copy figure...a crank measured figure no doubt.

I just bought a 04' WR4540 last Saturday. On the sheet of paper that I received with the bike it says 59HP. That would be at the crank I'm sure........

sorry, my 03 WR450f will outrun and XR650 any day of the week all the way to its 105mph top end. I dont know which one has more horsepower but the WR is faster.
