I'm one of those rare few who got good valving for my 2003. I have ridden 03 crf and 04 crf and my 2003 YZ valving blows them away. The forks can handle absolutely everything. They can be plushed out to ride woods or setup to take casing a 60ft triple. The problem as explained to me is in the shim stack. The shims wear out and allow hard hits to blow right threw them. A new technique being used on $6k mountain bike forks were used on mine. By adding support to the shims so they don't wear out but also doesn't effect the action of the fork is the key. I don't think any one is currently doing this for YZ forks. Are the 2005's like the Showa's or are they different in their action? Showa seems to be the bar that everyone is trying to get to.
