4 finger chain rule

2 posts in this topic

hey all,

I read in dirt rider that the proper way to adjust a chain is to be able to put four fingers between the chain and swing arm. My questions : is this true and where on the swingarm (might be easy to use tire/rim as reference point. ie. fingers at bead), and is this with the bike on a stand or on the ground.

I use three fingers right at the back end of the chain guard on top of the swingarm with the bike on the kickstand. Everything seems to be wearing ok.
