Forks: Lower oil height, or lighter oil weight?

3 posts in this topic

I'm 160, 6' with a '99 YZ400. I'm trying to setup my bike for woods. Without changing spring rates and valving, what works better...Lowering my oil height from 100mm to 115 or 120mm or changing the 5 wt. oil to a 2.5 wt oil?

I am no suspension guru, but I believe that changing the oil weight would have more of a effect over the entire stroke. However you would need to turn the rebound way up to accomodate. Start saving for a revalve though. It is like night and day.
