Is it possible to make a yz250f faster than a yz450f?

I saw that they make a yz300f kit for the yz250f. With that and a bunch of other goodies I'll bet you can make an awsome cheaters bike :devil:

It will be like riding a yz450f in the 125 class. :thumbsup:

Not saying I would ever do something like that :awww:

I forget what mag always givesme these ideas?

that would be a pretty phat ride. throw on a pipe, cams, and jet kit, that [@#$%&*!] would rip.

I'd have to see it to believe it.

From what I've read, a stock R1 has in the midsts of 170hp

A stock R6 has in the midst of 90-100hp from what I've read.

Granted, the R1 is heavier, but I think it'd take some major work to build an R6 that will "smoke" an R1.

All you have to do is define "smoke". Where & when? In the canyons/tight tracks the R-6 will with better handeling because you cand just pin the throttle & hang on through the turn. Pure roll-on & acceleration the R-1 wins hands down, but riding the R-1 requires alot more throttle control.

You guys are forgetting that the R1 got a makeover this year and the R6 is a dated design. The new R1 outperforms the R6 in every sense of the word.

Thats why its the R1 "#1 is the key here folks"... If I sit and ponder over the dilema of if someone were to offer one or the other to me I would have to say my Conscience would'nt feel right unless I took the R1... :thumbsup: Getting this back to the lecture at hand and address all the cheaters out there that ride the yz250f, you still have to know how to ride.... the little 12 year old on his yz125 that may not even be able to touch the ground will make you look like a chump real quick whether you are on a yz300f or not... might as well stick with a 50 rather than make a bike faster that you cant ride anyway...

I do not think that a YZF300 would be faster than a YZF450.........but it would be fun to ride

I believe davbrucas has a crf250 that is putting out 49ponies

Sorry, but still thats decent and he dosent even have a bore kit on it and there are many more mods that still can be done.

Any idea on how much something like that would cost? I wonder if there would be a drop in reliability. That would be perfect for me, the 400 is too fat and has too much power. So a light 300 would be the best of both worlds.

It depends alot on your riding style and where and what kind of riding you do alot too...take a look at 125 and 250 race times sometime on the same track and notice theres usually not much of a varation in laptimes...usually the 125s will give up a little longer time as the track becomes more HP hungry(sandy, lots of hills, etc) But for me, ive actually come to find out that after ridding a YZF250, i was actually on average 1.5 seconds faster per lap that i was on my 426 on out local track...especially as i got into 5 or so laps where the 426 would really start to wear me down while on the 250 i could have easily done 10 more. Now mind you this track you pretty much ran at full tilt on either bike and there were little to no major hills/sand or other obsticals to rob HP...however, lots of turns and plenty of jumps made the 250 shine as it did have a serious weight advantage. 1.5 seconds per lap on a ten lap race would be a decent lead in my book. If i rode MX and ONLY MX, i could definetly see myself on a 250F but i dont ride 100% MX so i dont think i would ever buy one...those things wouldnt stand a chance in hell in a desert race!
