'91 seat on '86 XR600?

Will the seat from a '91 XR600 work on an '86 model?

I don't believe without the newer gastank, with a newer gas tank the bolt on right side of frame and seat don't line up, I installed newer tank, seat and side covers on my 87, had to extend "A" shaped rubber tank tie down with ziptie, and the right rear seat bolt just clamps over edge of seat plastic, not thru hole. Side covers fit fine though. I like it much better than orange tank and blue seat. David
