Iown a 2000 426 that ive had since new it has reciently developed a knock. It sounds like con rod or piston slap,

I disassembled the top end to do piston and rings, cylinder was still round, the crank and con rod were still well within the tolerance of specs, but when reassembled the noise was still there? I also discovered that when I loosen tension on the timing chain the noise stoped. Timing chain tensioner is working propperly. Any imput would be apprieciated

are you sure your not tightening the chain tension and that the tensioner is in fact working properly?, if memory serves me right, counter clockwise loosens the chain.

My 00 426 knock came from the counter balancer keyway. do a search and you'll find all kinds of prob's about this on the '00.

slack. the thing should be tight as a drum. The following years Yam went to splines instead of the woodruff key design.
