Best way to clean clutch steels

5 posts in this topic

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone had any goods ways to clean up the steel plates in the clutch. I ordered new friction plates (steels were out of stock) and needed to clean up the steels. Thanks

check the warp on the steel plates using a sheet of glass and a set of feeler guages. If they are in spec find someone who has a bead blaster and give them a hit with that. The bead blast will give them a nice 'as new' grippy finish.

bead blast if you must.(Id replace them as a set. do not sand blast that heats up the plates and distorts them

I would replace them all together.

Order them from North County Yamaha or Yamaha of Troy.

Agreed. They are only 25 bucks to replace them all. Call BSY at 888-BSY-FAST
