YZ 450F preview in Dirt Rider

That "blue side/red side" comment was only directed at my own perception of the CRF side of TTalk being a bit more wild and wooly than the YZ/WR side.

I love Hondas, and have no built in bias against all things red. :)

The bottom line is this....it is not the bike----it is the rider. The fast guys will still be fast and the slow guys will still be slow.....no matter which brand of bike they are riding.

Ernie

Hick, I sometimes wonder what you are reading, because it is apparently not the same thing I am. In his first post he basically tells everyone who says they might change brands if the new bike is not much different that they are stupid...

"Man, a lot of you sound like those friggin whiners from the CRF side. Go buy the Red bike, you will fit in fine over there! What the hell is wrong with the current design? "

If that was me he was talking to I'd be insulted, as I can make up my own mind on what I want and I'm sure they can too. Nobody else stood up to point it out so I did, I can take the heat.

Next he made the claim that the Yamaha was universally a better bike for anyone over 5'4" tall, not 'has better ergos for taller riders'.

"Yamaha has a proven design that has much better (Tunable)suspension & ergo's for anyone over 5ft 4inches tall than Honda's."

Huh? Most ALL riders of this size bike are over 5'4" tall, and that statement IS ridiculous. If you can't see that I don't know what to tell you. Having personal experience being over 5'4" and riding a CRF I pointed out the inaccuracy of that statement in my experience. I never commented on the suspension except to say that it was all personal preference, perhaps you missed that part.

I also never called him a liar, I don't know where you got that. As far as him calling me a liar, I took the 'If you are 6'8"' as a questioning of my truthfulness. If that is not how it was meant he can certainly tell me.

As far as what I 'did' to you or to him, I only called you on what you and he actually said, since most of us on here are not mind readers that is all we have to work with. Once you explained your complete thoughts on the subject at hand I told you we were in agreement.

And hey, I was taking it easy over here, you should know. :)

And I for one hope the new YZ is bad-a$$, starts when you look at the kickstarter, is light as all get-out and faster than he!!. When it comes to bikes I am color blind, and have ridden the best thing I could get my hands on at the time, including the bike that got me more trophies than any other, a 1997 YZ125.

Ego... I wasnt picking on you(well too bad anyway). I was just being funny. At least I wasnt ripping on you because you were racing 80's. I just thought the fall looked funny. Dont feel bad. I took a holeshot this weekend only to fall over in a sweeper about a 1/4 lap in and got ran over by all the 16-24, and 25+ guys. I really mean ran over. I have marks to prove it. Everyone followed the same line. By the time I got out of the sand and got my bike started, I had unfortunatly had a few 125jr's hit me as well because they dropped 2nd after the 16-24 and 25+ guys. It really sucked.

P.S. that is not a fake pic. I really dont think that the jump in that pic is all that spectacular anyway. I was just trying to shed some light on yznvegas to sort of let him know where I was coming from with my experience.

No just kidding no worries. Awsome shot though

Ego... I'm not talking about a friend of a friend of a friend who knows this guy who heard through some grapevine... :)

Yamaha dealers get their info at the dealer show. Magazine editors get info ahead of time (like I said, several days ago) so the issue can go to print and be distributed in time. However, they are not allowed to release info before a certain date that is set by Yamaha.

I was just providing the info that I have straight from the source. What you do with that info is up to you. However, you are in no position to judge the validity of what I posted... you don't even have a clue where it came from.

Reminds me of one day I was at the Suzuki shop, more than a month before Suzuki's Las Vegas dealer show. Some kid comes in with a brouchure of some new bike nobody had ever seen or heard about (TL1000S) and wanted to know if they had any. We were checking it out, wondering what was up and where he got the brouchure... he said he worked at a print shop and they were printing a bunch of stuff for Suzuki.... maybe you guys outta check out the print shops near Yamaha's Cypress headquarters... LOL :D

MXAddict it is apparent to me that you are super sensative and I am sorry, but from your picture that you gracefully share with us, your knees are very high & close to your face, especially when you sit on the seat, due to the ergo's of your red bike. I am truthfully sorry, you are not a liar as I am no liar. Your legs are as long as my best friend who rides/races your same bike. His complaint is the fact that coming off of a 426 the 450 feels cramped. Many CRF owners have relocated their pegs. I believe this to be true & you my friend are in denial for whatever reason, and I really do not give a Crap. I also am not bashing anyone for wanting a complete makeover on the current design 426. But, if you know anything about the history of Yamaha what works & wins & dominates the class, they usually will not completely change....ie..the aluminum frame issue as well as going to bladder forks(yuk). The frame will probably not happen this year although I thought a new design motor might, doesn't look like that will happen either - probably because the current motor has proved to be very reliable. So again I stick to my opinion that the current overall design of the 426 is awesome, except for the weight -- which for your info is being scaled down by new casting processes, an automatic decompression system for better/easier starting & finally more cc's. I hope better braking is a possibility. So, get your panties unwadded, no one, especially me is attacking or insulting anyone & I hope that this ends the whining & bickering..I am more interested in possible rumors on the new 450. MXAddict we are all riders & racers & I respect you as I would hope you would respect me. Happy roosting brother!

wow, this is a heated debate. it's almost as good as the gadget... uh, powernow device. I'm not one to knock anyones ride but if your issue is with the weight of the bike, why aren't you on a YZ250F?

ahh can you feel the love in the air :D

I had a 00 426 & now i own a 450F.. both bikes are great or shall i say Awesome! & both have minor issues that can be addressed .. but like someone said further up this post both are the 2 best 4stk mx bikes if not the best bikes out period!!

Funny thing is 1/2 my buddys are still on 426's other 1/2 are on 450F's & when at the track we all ride & have a good time without yelling at each other that your "footpeg to handlebar to seat ergos are way off" or "your P.O.S. wont start in less than 2 kicks man what a lame @$$ bike"

Maybe its just that we have better things to do than bitch & moan when we can be out riding.

have a nice day

:):D

whatever happened to the holeshot device?! :) lol!

my diaper is lighter then yours

LOL...what a good thread...I was just commenting to mxaddict the other day at the track that me and him had been missing out on some good flames on the forums...well, ask and ye shall receive! :D:D

Both bikes kick butt, and for the guy that said if were were so worried about weight, why don't we ride a YZ250, well, we don't LIKE the 2-strokes anymore. We want to ride a big thumper...after all this is THUMPERTALK...not "TWOSMOKE-ACTION" :D J/K

Yeah and to Loopout, he has it right, we all hang out in the pits with about a 50/50 mix of red and blue thumpers, we all get along, we all go fast (well some of us!!!) Although it has been seen for a guy to twist the gas of his buddies bike after said buddy roosted the crap out of him on the track :)

And never assume a guy is running a stock ergo setup. Mxaddict has changed his pegs, his bars, and his triple clamps. It fits a tall rider well, me included. The bike is just plain fast, both of them are! REMEMBER guys...at our skill levels, it is at LEAST, 90% rider, 10% bike, maybe even more!

Huh? Most ALL riders of this size bike are over 5'4" tall, and that statement IS ridiculous.

If we break that sentence down semantically we find that GA opines:

Yamaha has a proven design with:

a) better suspension

:D better ergos, provided you are taller than 5’4”

I don’t want to drag the various mag tests into this debate, but a few of them have said basically the same thing. It may be incorrect but it is not ridiculous.

You are right, I don’t know where I got that. Era confuso. Thanks for being a good sport.
