TPS on 04 WR450F

Disconnecting the TPS (throttle postion sensor) has anyone tried this yet on a 04 WR450F? I heard it helps smoothing out the power band and 2 more HP. Just curious... :)

I do not understand why this mod is even being considered at all. :D The TPS cost Yamaha and Honda some money to get developed and put on their carbs. The pumper carb we have now has evolved over the years to work extremely well. Only fuel injection will make it seem primitive. Try and disconnect it and you may gain 2 HP up top but you will lose something elsewhere in my opinion. :)

The TPS maps the firing. Take it off and you'll lose the engine's ability to burn the correct amount of fuel at the correct time. Bad mod.

it adjusts the ignition timing realitive to throttle position and rpm rather than just rpm.i has nothing ot do with fuel delivery.when its unplugged the cdi goes to a defualt map and just acts like a normal advance curve.

in theory the tps is good thing.but if yamaha dropped the ball on its calibration or map selection then its very possible that unplugging it makes more power every where.

it takes 10 seconds to unplug.try it!

FFR has proved that it works on a yz450.thats doesnt mean its will do the same thing on a wr,but you will never know if you dont try.

on a drz it makes the throttle response slightly more abrupt.most of the S model guys doing the fcr conversion use a fcr that doesnt even have a tps.
