HELLO EVERYBODY,

59117aba41d17_ScreenShot2017-03-15at10_13.54AM2.png.50d6cd570b2d43fd799e24b69283d8b8.png

I FIGURED I'D START A THREAD ABOUT MY PERSONAL BETA 500 RR-S, AS WELL AS MY WIFES BETA 125RR-S:

I HAVE BEEN POSTING ON OTHER PEOPLES THREAD GIVING MY OPINIONS AND THOUGHTS ON THIS BIKE SO HERES ONE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCES WITH IT.

I'M FROM LONG BEACH CALIFORNIA, AS OF RIGHT NOW, I'M 41 YRS OLD, I'M IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY; FIRST AS THE KID THAT RAN AROUND HELPING THEN AS A SKILLED LABORER, THEN A FOREMAN AND SUPERINTENDENT, I WENT TO ARCHITECTS SCHOOL TO BE TRAINED TO BECOME A BLUEPRINT DRAFTSMAN, AND NOW ALSO REAL ESTATE SALES AGENT,  BUT I STILL FEEL THAT IM JUST A GLORIFIED DITCH DIGGER, BECAUSE I LOVE A CHALLENGE AND HARD WORK.

I GREW UP RIDING BMX SINCE I WAS 3, MY FIRST BIKE WAS SOME RACY RABBIT BIKE, THEN A HARO FST,  A HARO MASTER, SE QUADANGLE, BOSS XXL, ALLIANT BILLET 24", AND NOW I STILL RIDE BMX FREESTYLE WITH A SUBROSA PANDORA DTT.

1014685_588545611166107_1200127192_o.thumb.jpg.9272ec95d6b79e56c7dea2234c94917a.jpg

 AND MX SINCE I WAS ABOUT 10 ON A 79 YZ80, THEN A 88 KX80 BIG WHEEL, KX 125, A COUPLE OF CR250'S, AND THEN A 2003 CRF450R.

16602905_1334510136569647_2562562610958386214_n.jpg.62542e6388e70a6f6242ddd9158183a4.jpg

IN 2005 I SUFFERED THROUGH A MAJOR INJURY, AND SUBSEQUENT SURGERIES TO HELP ME WALK AGAIN, SO I BASICALLY QUIT RIDING DIRTBIKES UNTILL 2017

THROUGHOUT THIS TIME I FOUGHT THRU 28 SURGERIES ON MY FEET AND ANKLES, BUT  I CONTINUED TO SCUBA DIVE AND SURF, AS THE OCEAN WAS REALLY GOOD FOR ME TO HEAL, THE PACIFIC IS LIKE A REALLY NICE COLD EPSOM SALT BATH FOR MY ENTIRE BODY, THEN EVENTUALLY I STARTED TO RIDE BICYCLES AND DO SOME HIKING, AND WEIGHT TRAINING, AND STRETCHING.

FOR MY 41ST BIRTHDAY I MAXED OUT ON BENCH 255 POUNDS FOR 5 REPS AND DID WHAT WAS IN THE PIC BY MYSELF, AND SQUATED THAT 100 POUNDS FOR 100 REPS

11760098_951923848161613_6401277188074814786_n.thumb.jpg.5e7f1f68360ccc8376022940c4f42804.jpg13754104_1143916975628965_6015526796217516957_n.thumb.jpg.8506d8113598ce22a5de64f6959fc912.jpg

THEY ALMOST CHOPPED OFF MY FOOT AND TOLD ME I'D NEVER WALK WITHOUT CRUTCHES, BUT GOD IS GOOD, AND SO NOW I COUNT MY BLESSINGS.

THERE IS NO WHERE TO RIDE DIRTBIKES AROUND HERE IN MY HOMETOWN SO I NEEDED SOMETHING WITH A PLATE.

SO I GOT MY 500 RR-S ON VALENTINES DAY 2017, HENCE THE NAME VALENTINA, I GOT HER FROM MOUNTAIN MOTORSPORTS IN ONTARIO FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IS A VERY GOOD PRICE.

FIRST I'M GONNA DO SOME COPY AND PASTING OF SOME PAST POSTS

I got my 500 on valentines day 2017 hence the name Valentina. CIMG2593.JPG.bde929c7a5c969a377f456f3a06ac720.JPGCIMG2598.JPG.d93c2a8a791c1b850e67d73145504094.JPG

After setting up the front end and raising the stock shift lever  a cog, I feel confident on it. my first ride before I set it up felt like my friends wr450, but now it feels closer to my old 2003 crf450r, so I'm really happy with her

00T0T_alvZQzzCR16_1200x900.jpg.b27483ee8358ae77a35f10041717835f.jpg

awsome bike, I do need to clean up the rear fender so i'm here looking for ideas, but not till after I get my license so far I only have my permit and I dont want any issues when I have to take the ride test. haha

2&1/2 hours so far and I'm loving her more and more.

AROUND THIS TIME MY WIFE ORDERED A BETA 125 RR-S, AND IT WAS SHIPPED FROM ITALY TO US IN A BOUT A MONTH AND A HALF

SHE HAD NEVER RODE A REAL MOTORCYCLE BEFORE, JUST XR100 & XR50 SO WE GOT HER SOME GEAR AND GOT HER GOING

SHE NOW HAS 47 MILES ON HER BIKE, ALL FROM HER.

SHE NAMED HER BIKE "BABY GUISEPPE DABETA" :p

SO THAT'S PRETTY COOL TOO.

I BOUGHT MY WIFE HER WHOLE SETUP AND SO TONIGHT SHE SNUCK OVER TO CHAPPERAL AND BOUGHT ME SOME NEW PANTS AND GLOVES THAT I WAS EYEING WHILE WE WERE THERE ON SATURDAY PICKING OUT HER FLY NEW GEAR.

2016 FOX NOMAD PANTS IN ORANGE AND FOX BOMBER GLOVES ALSO IN ORANGE; THEY GO GREAT WITH MY FOX COMP 5'S. AND AS SHORTS I CAN WEAR MY FOX DAVE MIRRA BMX KNEE PADS WITH EM. AND AS PANTS, I CAN USE EITHER SOME FOX TITANS OR MY HAMMER BMX KNEEPADS DEPENDING ON WHAT I'M DOING, SHOOT THERES ENOUGH ROOM I CAN WEAR BOTH.

I ALWAYS WEAR BOOTS AND KNEEPADS AND HELMET AND GLOVES IF I'M ON ANY MOTORCYCLE. I ALSO RETIRED MY OLD BELL MOTO7 FOR THE NEW SCORPION GOLDEN STATE HELMET, TOPPED OFF WITH THE OLD SKOOL OAKLEY O-FRAMES THAT I ALWAYS LOVED.

THESE PANTS ARE MY MOST FAVORITIST PANTS EVER, AND THEY'RE SHORTS TO BOOT. JUST THE RIGHT LENGTH TOO.

I THINK THEY'RE RAD

THE LAST COUPLE OF TRIPS OUT I MADE THE SWITCH TO A 13 TOOTH FRONT SPROCKET AND HERES WHAT I THINK;

THE 13 HAS MADE THE BIKE MORE BETTER FOR TECHNICAL STYLE OFF ROAD RIDING, WHICH FOR ME MEANS IN THE ROCKS, AND DOING THAT NDURO CROSS TRAING STYLE WHEELIES, FIRST GEAR THRU 4TH SO FAR, PIVOT TURNS, BALANCE STUFF, AND EVEN MY PATHETIC ATTEMPTS AT NOSE WHEELIES. I DONT LIKE IT AS MUCH IN THE WHOOPS BECAUSE I KEEP SEARCHING FOR A 7TH GEAR. WHEN DOING HILLCLIMBS I THINK I'M SPINNING TOO MUCH WITH A 13, ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M IN TOO DEEP IN FIRST GEAR.

THE 15 TOOTH ON THE OTHER HAND I LIKE BETTER ON THE STREET, HIGH SPEED DESERT STUFF, AND EVEN DOING HILLCLIMBS I THINK I LIKE THE 15 TOOTH BETTER, MAYBE MY CLUTCH DOESN'T LIKE IT AS MUCH, BUT THE BIKE HAS SO MUCH POWER THAT IT'LL TRACTOR LIKE A MOFO.

MAYBE THIS WILL ALL CHANGE WHEN I PUT ON A NEW BACK TIRE ON.

SPEAKING OF TIRES, I'M NOT EXACTLY FOND OF THE STOCK MICHELINS, THEY'RE OK BUT NOTHING TO BRAG ABOUT, EXCEPT I GUESS THAT I'M GETTING GOOD LIFE OUT OF THEM ON THE STREETS, IGUESS. SO, I ORDERED UP SOME GOLDENTYRES THRU MY HOMIES HARLEY SHOP, A FATTY FOR THE FRONT, AND A MATCHING GUMMY FOR THE BACK, AND ALSO A TRACTIONATOR HT REAR FOR THE STREET. NOW, I JUST GOTTA LEARN HOW TO CHANGE MY OWN TIRES. I TRIED IT ONCE BEFORE BUT I PINCHED IT AND TOOK IT TO THE HARLEY SHOP AND LET THEM DO IT. I'M PROBABLY GONNA HAVE TO GET SOME KIND OF TIRE CHANGING TOOLS AS WELL SO WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS OVER THE UPCOMING MONTHS.

THE SUSPENSION IS STILL STOCK AND IM BOTTOMING OUT LIKE CRAZY NOW THAT I'M GETTING SOME OF MY OLD SKILLS BACK, SO I THINK I'M GONNA NEED TO SERVICE AND UPGRADE THE SPRINGS BEFORE TOO LONG.

I THINK I HAVE WHAT BETA DILIVERS STOCK WORKING AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE THO.

I KNOW HUH, WHEN MY 11 YEAR OLD SAW MY PANTS HE WAS LIKE ; EHH YOU SURE ABOUT THAT COLOR!!! HE'S USED TO SEEING ME ALWAYS WEAR BLACK. I THINK HE LIKED THEM BETTER WHEN HE SAW THESE PICS, THE LITTLE GUY LOVED EM CALLED ME A THUNDERCAT. MY WIFE KEPT GRABBING ME AND CHASING ME AROUND THE HOUSE AND YARD UNTILL I TOOK THEM OFF AND I LOOKED LIKE MY DORKY OLD SELF.

THE 125'S GONNA BE REALLY COOL WHEN SHE GETS A BIT MORE PROFICIENT AND WE CAN GO DO SOME FOREST ROADS. IN TIME IT'LL HAPPEN, I JUST GOTTA HAVE PATIENCE.

THIS LAST WEEKEND WE WENT OUT TO EL MIRAGE, I ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING I HAD NEVER DONE BEFORE, I RODE MY MX BIKE AT NIGHT. ME AND VALENTINA  RAN THE WEST LOOP TRAIL SOMETIME AROUND MIDNIGHT, IT WAS COOL.18341789_10155286962829904_5834873341439476989_n.jpg.7f35b531e5ffc9c78d6ee0086480f14f.jpg

MY WIFE STAYED BACK AT CAMP WITH OUR 2 BOYS AGED 7 & 11. IT WAS SO COOL TO RIDE THRU THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH NO LIGHTS EXCEPT MY HEADLIGHT AND THE MOON AND STARS. I JUST FIGURED THAT IF I'M COOL RIDING THRU MY NECK OF THE WOODS AT NIGHT, I'M COOL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I LOVE THIS BIKE FOR REASONS LIKE THIS, I DIDNT GO TOO FAST AND TOTALLY ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

THE NEXT MORNING I GOT THE KIDS GOING, ON THEIR BIKES, MAPPED UP A LITTLE ENDURO COURSE FOR THEM TO WEAR THEMSELVES OUT ON, MADE SOME BREAKFAST, AND TOOK VALENTINA FOR A SUNDAY RIDE.

I IMMEDIATELY WENT FOR THE BIGGEST SET OF HILLS RIGHT AT THE VERY FRONT OF THE OHV AREA. THEY WERE DRY DUSTY SANDY STEEP AND ROCKY ALL AT THE SAME TIME AND MY BACK TIRE WITH ABOUT 600 OR SO MILES WASN'T HELPING, BUT I FOUGHT MY WAY TO THE TOP OF THE GNARLIEST OF THEM. AND THEN I CRUISED BACK DOWN AND CRUISED AROUND TO LET MY HER COOL DOWN A BIT I DID THISS A NUKMBER OF TIMES AND CONQUERED MOST OF THE HILSS IN THAT FRONT AREA. ALL WAS GOOD UNTILL, GOING DOWN THE NASTIEST PART OF THE MOUNTAIN, I CAUSED AN AVALANCHE THAT ME AND VALENTINA GOT CAUGHT UP IN. I THINK I WASN'T BEING AGGRESSIVE ENOUGH AS INSTEAD OF JUMPING DOWN A CLIFF FACE, I TRIED CREEPING DOWN AND MAYBE I LOCKED UP THE REAR BRAKE, SO WE SLID DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ABOUT 30' WITH PART OF THE MOUNTAIN COMING DOWN ON US. VALENTINA GOT A SCRATCH ON THE SWINGARM RIGHT AT THE AXLE BOLT, ON THE CLUTCH COVER, AND A SMALL PINKY NAIL SIZED KNICK OUT OF THE SIDE PLATE JUST ABOVE HER MUFF. I TOOK A TOASTER SIZED ROCK TO MY LEFT BICEP, AND GOT A GOOD CHARLEY HORSE AND ANOTHER ONE ALSO BIT ME ON MY LOWER BACK RIB AREA, LUCKILY I'VE GOT SOME EXTRA PADDING RIGHT THERE. IWAS DRESSED LIKE THIS EXCEPT WITH A TANK TOP, SO NO PADS EXCEPT BMX KNEE PADS. ALL IS GOOD WITH ME BUT MY VALENTINA GOT A LITTLE ROUGHED UP.

CIMG2688.JPG.623e50668ad5f92aac4e53ec5a121af4.JPG

SO WE RODE OFF THE MOUNTAIN AND MY ARM WAS HURTING A LITTLE BIT, AND I WAS A LITTLE ROUGH ON MY GIRL, SO I KINDA TOOK IT EASY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. SO, I BASICALLY RAN A 30 MILE SCRAMBLE AROUND AND THRU THOSE MOUNTAINS, AND DIDNT DO ANY OTHER REALLY GNARLEY HILLCLIMBS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY, A FEW SKETCHY, BUT NOT TOO BAD, HAMMERED SOME WHOOPS, FOUND A LITTLE JUMP, AND HIT THAT A FEW TIMES, AND JUST ENJOYED MY TIME WITH MY BIKE.

18403458_10155286964164904_2239665487624998143_n.jpg.547cd84e1933b3eb7a7fdfb8de2a079a.jpg

THE MOUNTAIN WAS IN THE BACKGROUND OF THIS PIC OF MY LADIES BIKE, AND IT DONT LOOK LIKE MUCH, FROM A COUPLE MILES AWAY BUT I WAS CHALLENGING ONCE YOU HIT IT.

AFTER MY RIDE, I PLAYED SOME GAMES WITH MY BOYS, AND GEARED UP MY LADY TO GO FOR A RIDE. THE WEATHER WAS REALLY NICE 18274679_10155286963184904_8006171875269268097_n.jpg.4170fd30a8622fabd89f22f6d47207da.jpg

BUT NOT FOR LONG AS IT WAS STARTING TO GET NASTY, AND THE WINDS PICKED UP TO AT LEAST 50 MPH GUSTS RAIN LIGHTNING AND EVEN SOME HAIL. WITH THE WINDCHILLE IT WAS PROBABLY ABOUT 10-15 DEGREES.

WHEN SHE TOOK OFF IT WAS NO BIGGIE BUT THEN WE HAD TO RIDE BACK DIRECTLY INTO IT. THIS WAS GOOD FOR PRACTICING MY WHEELIES THOUGH.18300986_10155286964039904_5975956020470037869_n.jpg.349763fc5cba7baf6549d2e3cc156d73.jpg

THIS WAS HER THIRD OR FOURTH RIDE ON HER BIKE, AND SHE WAS FREAKING OUT A BIT, I'VE KNOWN HER ABOUT 15 YEARS, AND IVE ONLY SEEN HER SCARED BUT ALSO EXCITED LIKE THIS A FEW TIMES. SHE WAS TOTALLY HAPPY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE OF RIDING IN BAD WEATHER.

WHEN WE GOT BACK THE KIDS WERE IN THE TENT WITH OUR OLD AND LOVING PIT-BULL CHERRY BABY AND LOTS OF BLANKETS, THEIR TOYS, PILLOWS, AND SLEEPING BAGS.18274952_10155286964589904_8998091030956339550_n.jpg.9dce55ed18eb674ebac97f16dc36cf9c.jpg

SO WE JUMPED INTO THE WARM, AND INVITING TENT AND RELAXED, LISTENING TO THE SOUNDS OF RAIN PELT THE TENT WHILE OUR KIDS READ DR.SUESS, AND JAMES PATTERSON'S MIDDLE SCHOOL SAVE RAF TO US. THEN THE STORM BROKE SO WE BROKE CAMP, BBQ'D SOME BACON CHEDDER BURGERS AND WENT HOME. ON THE WAY HOME, MY OLDER BOY FINISHED READING HIS BOOK OUT LOUD TO US WITH OUT US ASKING HIM TOO AND THIS WAS A REAL TREAT.

OK now we're getting there on the gear, but you were setting a trend with the red shorts and knee pads and football jersey for sure.

For an old MX guy, I figured you'd be tucking those pants in the boots. I think you're going Freestyle. I can't wait to see the jersey :)

Hello all, I'm the proud new owner of a very clean 1986 Yamaha TT350S. I've been going through the bike making sure everything is working. I cleaned the two carbs and made sure there was enough oil. It rides great and I'm excited to get it on the road soon!
I have been having some issues with the lighting. The headlight bulb was blown out so I found another one on eBay. The taillight doesn't work and I've spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out how to get it to work (seems simple but I can't get it to work!!). I replaced the bulb with a new 1157 12v bulb that I got at Oreillys. The bulb fits the assembly but doesn't work. I measured a couple volts off the blue and yellow wires that lead to the light. The ground seems good. Not sure how to check the switch next to the rear brake but it looked good inside to me. I'm at my wits end here with this, what should be, simple fix. Any tips or help would be much appreciated!

Hey everyone!  I've been riding dirt for 26 years, but have never had actual "professional" instruction.  Going to turn 39 this fall and getting ready to do my first enduro, hare scramble format.  It will be at my local track I frequent often.  Yesterday, I was there ripping around trying to pickup speed and ride faster.  Here's me doing my best around the single track.

Where can I improve?  I know my biggest downfall is not carrying speed thru my corners.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks for the replies in advance!

      PRICE DROP
For sale is my 2015 Beta 350RR. 2734 miles and 120 hours. Just had some top end work done by Sierra BMW and BETA. Fresh air filter and oil. This is an awesome dual sport bike. Or you can strip the lights and turn signals and have a single track weapon, your choice. This bike will do it all. Unfortunately, I've been riding my 2 stroke lately and don't have room or the time to maintain 2 bikes. My loss is your gain! Front tire only has a few rides on it, the rear needs to be changed. Beta's are super reliable and amazing machines that rival KTM and Husky!
