Need car soon, but which one?

So I'm soon going to drive and I'm wondering what car to get. I'm thinking about getting a Subaru wrx as my first car but I read forms telling me that the car would be too much for a newbie. The closet thing to riding a car was riding quads over 500cc and also riding motocross dirt bikes and I do understand the meaning of power and what happens when you misuse it.

If not the wrx what about some kind of truck but more that 20mpg. Most likely a 4 seat truck but I defenetly don't want no old ford redneck truck.

Any other ideas for my first car please say, thank you

Toyota carolla

It's not the the WRX is too powerful to handle, it's that it's too tempting for a newbie driver to use that power when he's still learning.  One of my buddies was in a WRX that was rolled 4 times in an accident.  One guy was ejected through the windshield and split his head open on a guardrail.  They all lived, but that's what happens when you put four 17 year-olds in a car like a WRX.

So yeah, Corolla, Civic, Sentra are great choices.  A Camry, Accord, Altima are great choices that are a tad larger and nicer.  A crew cab Frontier or Tacoma would be nice too, but you probably won't see 20+ mpg unless you get a manual transmission in 2WD and drive like grandma.

What about the baseline Subaru Impreza? And just to let you know I'm not one of those crazy teens that would drive 150mph on the highway or be a goon on the road because I understand the consequences it has and its not the car that makes it a good car for beginners it's the driver and how they drive.

Get what you can afford to wreck now.

Save the dream cars for later when you can afford them.

I wasn't one of those crazy teens either, heck my first car was a 1988 beat up 4x4 Ford Ranger that was 13 years old at the time.  But I remember a particular night when I borrowed my dad's Civic and had a buddy in the front seat and 2 girls in the back.  Started racing another buddy that was driving a Ford Escort when we were all headed somewhere together on the highway.  When the girls started screaming to slow down, I just pushed the gas pedal harder!  I hit 120 on a long downhill stretch, and I can only imagine how far I would have pushed it had I been driving a car that was actually fast.

Level headed or not, we tend to do stupid things when the opposite sex is involved.

Get a truck, drive around with your dirt bike in the back and you'll get all the action:)

Forgot the mention, the regular Impreza seems like a pretty nice car.

Lol no ford redneck truck? Good idea. Itd be too much for a kid to handle. Those and old chevys/ dodges are only meant for children that are cared about. The rest of the kids are put in tin can cars that cant take any sort of hit.

Buy a small cheap car that will be cheap to maintain, insure, and fuel. You will wreck it at some point. The slower the car the better. I think all teens have a tendency to speed (I know I did) and a slower car will keep your tickets and insurance lower.

I am probably closer to your age then the others (19). My second car was a 2014 Ford Focus ST that I drove for a year before selling it. As long as you are responsible and know how to use the power you will be fine. The only speeding ticket I ever got was in a 140hp car.
