2009 yz450 to 2013 450 fork swap?

So there's a guy near me parting out what looks to be a mint 2013 yz450. Was wondering if the front forks would fit on my 2009 and if there would be any benefit to doing so. Anyone else done this?

Same forks.

Thanks a lot buddy! Probably gonna pick them up then.

Any idea what they'd be worth?

They are not identical, and you could run into a misfit here and there by mixing parts.  Using the complete set will probably work fine, though.  But they're worth upwards of $400, and except for the fact that the springs won't interchange, and the valving is going to be a smidge different, they won't be a significant improvement over the ones on your bike unless those are damaged.  For half the cost of the used '13's, you can probably get yours revalved to suit you and end up with a better result than with the used set.

Thanks for the info. The ones on my bike are valved and set up for my weight but leak a small amount. The ones he is parting out just look cleaner and newer so I was just thinking about getting them for a newer look. Sounds like it would be more trouble than it's worth though. Thanks man.

More money than trouble, but they'd be stock versus a custom setup.

The upper fork tubes are 2mm smaller diameter on the 13. You would need the triple clamps too.
