First off I'd like to say that the engineer that thought it was such a grand idea to put the drain bolt in the side of the case literally less than 2 inches from the frame deserves a dick punch. WTF??? Where is the drain in a funnel, a sink, a toilet, pretty much ANYTHING... That's right in the BOTTOM not the side and especially not right beside the frame. OK, now that I've vented about the asinine design of having the drain bolt on the side of the case so close you cannot even fit a socket between the case and the frame... Anyway the fact remains that the threads for the oil drain bolt at lower rear right hand side of the case are stripped and must be repaired so what I'm asking has anyone successfully fixed this problem without having to drop, tilt or remove the engine. Yes it is located in such F'd up location what should be a simple 15-20, 30 min max repair will take more like 2-3 hrs. Anyone??? Also, has anyone simply said screw you Yamaha designers, JB welded the existing drain plug and just drilled and tapped another on the bottom and called it a day? Yes, I'm seriously considering doing so after I look closely at the engine schematics if there ia nothing in the way of doing so.
