Aftermarket tanks

Just got my first new bike. A 2015 wr450 getting good mod ideas already. But i was wondering what everyone is running for larger aftermarket tanks.

I'm running the acerbis 3.3 gallon tank. Love it. But mine is a 2008 though. Good luck with the new bike

I looked at both of those. I really didnt want to trum my shrouds for the ims, did you have to trim the shrouds for the acerbis tank?

The acerbis for the 2008 replaces the fan shrouds. That along with the seat concepts seat make it look and feel like a thumper and not a 2x4 rail.

A picture speaks a thousand words and I think you mean like a street dual sport bike not a thumper.

I grew up with my dad riding xr500 and the like. My first 4-stroke was a wr400. That's what I think of as a thumper. Still don't know how to post pics though.

I have the Acerbis also on my '09.  I think it makes the bike look like an ugly mutt but it works.  Also there is gas in the part that is the radiator shroud that is below the level of the petcock.  If I had to do it over I would get the IMS tank.

IMS sends a paper cutting guide for the shrouds, makes it a relatively easy job. I used a box cutter

Plus, where you cut the shrouds is a part that is hidden by the seat when it's installed anyway. It's like a 10 min job that you will never see when the bike is together.
