The 'List'

You might be able to shave down your boot soles or something. That's my "outside the box" thought for today.

Yeah that's a fantastic idea.

I could also have my knee caps removed, for about 2 more inches of height drop

See? That's a good one too. I was going to recommend that, but it would be right out.

Phonebook on the seat was my other plan, but you don't want all that extra weight up high like that...

Sorry (not), for not contributing anything meaningful to the thread. I imagine the bike is going to be pretty awesome when you get it all squared away.

Edit: this is sounding way more smartass-ish than intended. Trying to make a funny joke, but failing. Back to my corner.

Just rode the bike for the first time on dirt, on my single-track track.

Handles extremely well, but too much oversteer right now. I'll look into that.

Power is awesome. Smooth delivery, easy to modulate. I cannot see a need to 'mellow' out the power at all !

New lowered pegs feel great. I thought they might make the bike feel like a rocking chair, but they just feel 'correct'.

Brake lever is just barely acceptable in the lowered position, so I will leave it alone for now. Can't go any lower without some other mods, cause it will hit the frame...

Seat needs to be taller AND SOFTER. OMG, I am spoiled with my other custom seats on the other bikes being so big and comfy...

Suspension is firm but really well balanced. It seems waaay to stiff, but it actually is smoother, even on the street, than my BETA is....part of it is the rock hard tall seat....

The bike feels like it has a really short wheelbase, and the front wheel feels like it's right underneath you.....and there is some oversteer at all times, but that should be easily fixed.

This bike is going to ROCK in the forest !

Hold on if it's guts foam it will break in and be much softer. When mine broke in it was too soft and I had to go back to stock.

It's Guts medium soft, and it's feels just like stock now.

That's the foam density I always use, but on this bike it seems firmer than usual.

It's typical.

It's like every  other Yamaha I've owned:  attention what you are doing with the engine running, standing still, and you can find it.

Unlike the BETA or the KTM, the shift throw is not long so it's just not a big deal.

Softer terrain

Golden Tyre 216AA 90/100-21

IRC M5B 140/100-18

Not soft

Bridgestone 403 90/100-21

Kenda Washougal-2 120/100-18

- The Golden Tyre will probably end up being the only front tire I use.

It is like cheating, because it is taller, lighter, and wider than anything else....

I just ordered the Golden Tyre for the front. Looks like a beast, lots of good reviews. Stock Dunlop very average.

Do you run the "fat" version of the 216? And where are you getting them, Zipty?

Been intrigued by this tire since I read Monk's reviews awhile back but didn't think you could get them in the US until I googled it just now. I've been running the 203/404 front/rear and always in search of more front end traction. Sometimes, especially in the really sandy soil we have here, that tire just slides out abruptly. I've tried all sorts of tire pressures, clicker settings, and fork heights. It's probably me, not the tire, but I hate not trusting the front end. Might try the 216 next. Then again, the Michelin Starcross 5s I put on my YZ250 are excellent.

I just ordered mine from Slavens Racing $99.00 for the 216aa fatty 90/100 21.

What pressure you guys running the front. I had my AT81 at 12 and couldn't figure out why the front was washing out so bad. Changed the pressure to 14 and the tire and front was a lot Better. I had always thought if you could get away with a lower psi on the front it was better, but man putting it to 14 helped a ton. Could be that Dunlop tire.

14psi?  Cold ? That's 16 psi when riding....Do you weight 350 lbs ??

I run 12 HOT with UHD tubes, and 10 with tubliss.

With an AT81 you can practically run it flat....

IMHO the AT81 is highly overated, and has terrible feel. The sidewalls are too stiff.

Far from 350.... I do hear what your saying, I had been running them at 12, but felt like the front was washing, sliding, etc. I ride where there is a lot of rock, shale, etc. it just didn't feel as planted. When I added 2 pounds, it felt better and made the bike more stable through it. I've been riding a lot almost got 50hrs on my bike. I have been testing tire pressure. Maybe that the difference between hard pack and desert. My hand feel it less too with a few more pounds. Looking forward to that new front. Edited by RMK800

So the 90/100-21 Golden tyre is working okay for you on some of the harder stuff too?

And if so, I see the 216aa comes in two versions. Is it the RALLEY 4 ply dez version - or the fatty 2 ply and what psi are you running? - THANKS!!

2 ply
