2010 yz 450f vs 2012 yz 450f

My buddy has a 2010 yz 450F and I have a 2012 YZ 450F. We both have stock gearing, I have a stock motor and as far as we know he has a stock motor too. Why does his bike spank my bike so badly?? When Im 5th gear tapped and hes 5th gear tapped, he literally just pulls away from me like a freight train. Whats different between the bikes?? All I keep reading is how restrictive my stock exhuast is. Could that be the problem?? Please help! Sick of hearing about how much slower my bike is lol. But mine feels like it hits down lower harder than his does..

The difference is mapping.  Both engines are otherwise identical.  Get a tuner, load the Marmont map, and go.

Is it the GYTR tuner? And is the Marmont map programmed into the tuner already?

You have to program it but it will literally take 2 min to put it into the tuner.

Ive never used or seen one used before. How do I know what too plug in for numbers? Or does it come with a spread sheet showing you what you want to use for each style of riding?

There's no spread sheet. Use the search function for the "Marmont map" or you can search for "2012 yz450f maps" and find a ton of maps that other people have tried.

You can also find online videos of how to use the tuner, it's super easy. For me the hardest thing about changing maps is getting plugged into the harness, as how Yamaha positioned the connector on my '14 is a minor pain.

Well I got one on order now. Just need to get my bike back from the shop now!

So I got my gytr programmer in and am curious now. Where do I find all these maps? How do I make sure Im not gonna blow this thing up with messing with the tuner? Figured Im at work and its slow so I should ask before going riding tommorow.  Thanks!

Look at the map thread on this forum. Its a sticky thread.

Also, you won't blow it up. There are limits on the changes the programmer can make.

Well thats a cool thing then! If anyone has a link that would be greatly appropriated. Or just directions on how to get there!
