YSR50 has spark, compression, gas, but WILL NOT FIRE!

Recommended Posts

I recently rebuilt my YSR, and it was driving me crazy!

I had spark, but when kicking it over, the plug would come out wet with gas!  However, nary a cough when kicking the stupid thing.

I took the carb apart, blew out the orifices, and put it back in about five times.

The last time, I noticed the gas in the float bowl looked.. off-color.

I looked at the tube feeding the carb, and the gas was more brown than blue.

I let that crap out into a rag, and then did it again, until only blue gas was coming out.

Then, with the choke on, it would cough, and finally it fired!

So if you're driving yourself crazy, because you have spark, gas, and compression, but no cough, sputter, or fire... check the quality of your gas!
