The Best Carburetor Option?

I have read around on many different forums and most people say the best option is an edelbrock carb, but many say that the stock carb is the best. On my 1998 WR400F, I've got the Keihin FCR, which is a trusty carb. I am looking for something that would be more reliable on longer trips, seeing as the FCR is more for racing (correct me if I'm wrong). Anyway, if anyone would be willing to share their opinions, that would be fantastic. Thank you!

The Edlebrock carb is a POS. 

Made from pot metal, it lasts about 100 hours then starts flaking apart like it's made of paper mache'.

It also has no main jet, so you have to tune the needle for small or large throttle openings. 

It cannot do well at both.

You cannot make it work as well as a modern carb.

 

The FCR MX/CR carb is the very best carb made, and when properly set up, is more powerful and has better throttle response than FI.

 

If you use a 2005 or later carb and add the Honda 2008 Apump upgrades, that's as good as it gets.

 

I have done this to (9) bikes in the last 7 years, and they are all fantastic.

 

Your FCR is old, and probably completely worn out. You can only get about 600 hours on the carb IF you filter all the vents from day one and replace all the wear components every 100 hours.

Sinced we know you didn't do that, you carb will be complete toast in about 250 hours.....from sucking in all that dust, and it grinding away at all th worn out parts....

 

Look for a 2005 or later YZ450 carb.

Make sure it fits first, as I have no experience on this specific carb change.

There should be hundreds of google and TT posts on changing your carb.

It would be cool if they came up with a FI retro Kit.  I love my FI on my KTM and would love to put it on my WR450.

      Hey guys I was wondering what bike I should get I havnt rode since I was in 7th grade but I had a kx 85 so I was experienced with riding I could pin the bike on tracks so I'm not completely new to riding now I'm 6,2 190 I was contemplating what bike to get, should I go with a yz 125 or should I go with a yzf450, I would never sell the 450 prob have it forever thank you tell me your opinions plz!!

      I'm finally getting the chance to go to the dunes in Oregon and cant decide weather I should run a 8 or 10 paddle tire on the back of my 81 YZ465 2stroke. Suggestions? Pros and cons for each? Thanks!

      Hey all, let me get right to the point, basically for the past couple years I've had this bike, it hasn't been running right. It tends to start well, and has a decent amount of power for a 200+ lb kid on it, but once I attempt to hit the top of the power band, it tends to cough and sputter like it's choking. When I recently checked to carb to jet it, I realized ALL but one of the Jets are missing. I've checked the reed valves, they seem to be in great shape... However, today (it is a warm day) it ran great for a while, after topping off the oil and running with the choke half on, this bike also leaks oil, but I'm almost convinced that this is a jetting issue (being that they're missing)  at this point, but I've also never put a top end in this bike. Thanks for any help, I'd just like to get an opinion on what you guys think.   I know I'm all over the place btw, sorry for that

      I've currently got a 2016 yz250x. I love it but it's not road legal.
      I've got my motorbike license and I need a bike to ride to work. If I'm going to drop a few k on another bike, I figure I might aswell get a road legal dirtbike so I can ride on the road during the week but also ride in the state forests on the weekend.
      So my question is, what bike would suit my purpose better? The RMX or the WR? Or are there any other bikes I should be looking at? Here in australia theres about 20 times more wr's for sale then rmx's, and spare parts availabilty is easier for the wr cos they're so popular, so I'm leaning towards this, but I'm open to suggestions from others.
      Regardless of which one I got, I'd get a supermoto wheelset for it so I could just swap wheelset instead of changing tires every weekend.

      Hey ThumperTalk. I'm new to the forum and I have some questions about a 2001 yz426 I found for sale. The guy wants $1500 but said he would work with me on the price a little. I know that's a pretty good deal. What I'm wondering is how long the motor will last me. All I'll be doing is trail riding and riding around on a farm. I have an rm125 which I love. I was looking around for an 06+ yz250, but I found this deal and I've always heard good things about the 426's. He said he recently did the valves and it has been a good reliable bike for him. So would this be a good bike for me? I just don't wanna get a 4 stroke and have to dump a ton of money into it. My 2 stroke has been bullet proof. 
      Any help would be appreciated
