YZ 450FX fuel tank

It will not fit. All the aftermarket tanks rely on the volume used up by the battery on the FX. I believe there is a 3gal IMS tank that extends into the shrouds but it is ugly!

Damn I was hoping it would because how ugly that tank is. Is there any other options for bigger tanks

I believe there is a 2.5 IMS tank that does not extend to the shrouds. That's about as good as your going to get except for the ugly one.

I have the IMS 2.9 on my FX.....ugly it is, wide the bikes it makes...yes. 80 mile range it now has yes. I did ride it a few time with the stock tank....muck better. I am curious if Acerbis will make a tank for it and how they will add the volume.

I see that on just gas tanks that Safari had come out with a 15 litre tank, listed for the 450FX. Doesn't look too bad.

The ims ones are just ugly I would go with the 2.5 gal one over the 3gal any day of the week. I can't pull myself to sacrifice the good looks just for 30 extra miles. If it was a 5gal I would buy it

I've heard the Ims 2.5 is dry break only and you have to mod the seat a bit, anyone know if somebody makes one with a regular cap?

Check with IMS I believe they have one with a cap that bolts over the dry break. I think they even came out with a regular cap for the 2.5 gal. tank.

Do you know if you would stil have to mod the seat for that? They have no pictures of fx tanks on their website.

I'm not sure. I know the little gas tank seat cover comes off for sure. If your thinking it for sure just call them 1-800-237-9906

I would assume so since you'd have to bolt some kind of adapter to the dry break opening to accept a regular cap.

Yeah me too. I racer the Virginia city Grand Prix today which is 100 miles and I had to put every lap to feel comfortable on gas

I would rather put WR gears in the bottom end on my '14 450F when it's convenient and deal with not having a button than ever have to run that ridiculous tank.  The 3G IMS tank profile on my '14 is mint and one of the best features about the bike.
