Notching in clutch basket. Should I be concerned/ replace?

2 posts in this topic

I have a 2014 Yz 450 with about 80hours on it. I took apart the clutch the other day and noticed there was some minor notching in my clutch basket. (See in pictures)

Now I'm sure this is fairly normal. So should I be concerned? What's the best rout to take?

I can take the basket off and grind the notches down and run it.

Or should I spend the money and buy a new basket?

(Was looking at the Hinson steel basket)

I've also thought about sanding it and getting the basket and inner hub hard anodized.

Any recommendations or help is appreciated!

Don't be concerned...it is simply normal wear and tear.

Just replace the basket, I wouldn't try to fix it. Your tolerances will be off.
