02 WR426 Flooding Carb Issue

Hello all!

My neighbor has recently picked up an 02 WR426 that did not run.  We cleaned the carb and it ran good for a few seconds then just died.  We took it back off couldnt find anything wrong, put it back on and now its like the float is getting stuck open.  we hooked it up with the bowl off and manually moved the float, and the gas shuts off.  I am kind of lost as to what it could be.  Whatever it is, it is causing a lot of gas to flood the cylinder.  Any help would be greatly aprreciated!!

Sounds like maybe the float height is wrong. Did you measure it?

Pull the float needle and inspect the tip for grooves: replace it

Inspect the cavity it sits in for corrosion: polish it and the needle body

Re-set your float height

Not quite sure where at on the float to measure from...  Should it just be level with the bowl sealing surface?  Or is there an actual measurement you need to hold?

Thanks again!
