Top End Rebuild XR600R

2 posts in this topic

I have a 1993 XR 600 R and need to take the head and cylinder off the motor for transport, I know it’s pain in the butt but I need to get the weight on each item below 70 lbs to avoid a huge hassle. The motor has never been apart as far as I can tell. I’m guessing that while I have the motor apart I should probably replace the rings and have the cylinder honed… Are there any other parts I should replace or anything else I should do while the motor is out and apart like this ???

After re-building mine 5 times now, I would recommend rings, honing, and obviously a whole new gasket set(includes o-rings, valve seals, etc.) I would also recommend lapping the valves in to make sure they seal well. :)
