250 rmz 2005 really hard to start when hot

Recommended Posts

You should only need the hot start when the bike is ridden hard and for long length of time.

I might be wrong but the hot start dumps full in the carb for starting the bike when the bike is red hot. The reason for the dumped fuel is the temp of the bike evaporates the existing fuel in the carb.

Hot start leans the mixture with more air. Leaner mixture required when hot, rich mixture when cold, choke is used.

Try finding TDC and go through halfway down come up and give it a nice hard kick. Should start in 1-6 kicks. With my 05 rmz 250 I hated killing it on the trails cause it took minutes to start. No problems anymore.
