New WR450 or YZ450FX?

What WR ECU mods is everyone discussing? I have a 07 WR that I de-corked but never did anything with the ECU?

After looking at the new 16 WR... oh baby do I want one! 

Hoping to hear back from my local dealer on monday as to when they expect to get the '16 in stock.

 

I heard back today, January/February is expected.

I'm pretty sure he'll tell me end november early december,

and he has close relations with someone from Yamaha EU..

My dealer told me that the bike is available from mid december,

Intro in the EU is in Spain in november... followed by a tour'd europe..

Never bought a new bike before, the MSRP price. Do you expect to pay that full price for newest models? What's the best you can expect off?

Unfortunately, hot new model, lots of interest, I assume most dealers will do MSRP+freight+prep+doc fees+taxes and the excited folks will buy them.  

 

For a less red hot model you might be able to get MSRP+tax.

 

For a model that has been sitting around or in general a slow seller, you might get out-the-door at MSRP or a bit lower.

Just found out that the new WR is about 1000 euros cheaper, compared to a exc...

I also would like a bigger tank and the YZ cam. I hear that cam really wakes the WR's up.

If you want to woods ride in Florida you will have to add a spark arrested pipe to the FX. Also, what is your primary riding type are you a GNCC Pro or An old man "C" class with bad knees like me?

Cams will be the same between the YZ/FX/WR.

Different decomp pin for the electric start models means different P/N. They have the same grind.

If there is a "special" (competition) WR coming out next year I'd might want to wait for that model,

been looking at some stuff,

but as I've mentioned before,

I cannot find a parts fiche (yet) for the new WR..

 

So comparing parts if difficult, if not dificil..

 

I'm also talking to some guys in Italy and Spain who make rally parts,

Hope to get some more info on that in the next weeks,

 

Also looking for a slipper clutch, although I'm not sure I could ever get used to left-hand braking.

Might opt for the athena-GET unit.. and get a lighter clutch basked thingy..

There is. It's called the yz450fx.....

Just buy a bike and ride it. I thought I was going too "need" lots for my 250fx. 50 hours later and all I have done is set the sag, fiddled with the clickers and fitted the usual protection gear. They really are that good out of the box.

Obviously any WR is going to require a muffler and if your in the USA an ECU kit.

-13l tank is available for both the WR and YZFX. It incorporates the shrouds...

-The FX isn't your slow ass WR, the stock cams will be just fine...

-YZ450F clutch pull is already light...

-Athena GET unit for what? Short of having a dual ignition switch, it won't offer anything "that" much more significant then what the GYTR programmer can do...

-The wrap around exhaust is a excellent design which has function too. Difficult to crush an exhaust that way and allows for the bike to obtain more front wheel traction. Yamaha exhausts IMO are ahead of it time...

-I can send you some Loonies if you would like..

Looks like the WR and FX share the same cams.  16 YZ has its own cams.

what I've seen now is that both in and out cams are different (partsnbrs)

next thing I'd like to know is.. what would be the difference.. (in performance) :devil:
