Fuel Mixture Screw question

Hey all,

I cleaned my carb today, and adjusted the float level. All seems well now, but I've never adjusted the fuel mixture screw before. When I screwed it in, there was a point where the engine would start to die, but when I screwed it out, there wasn't much difference even at four or five turns out. Where is a good place to start? I have the power up kit, 170 main, 68s pilot, moved the needle up to second slot from bottom, removed air box stuff, and drilled out exhaust tip. My local elevation is around 1000 feet. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Gary

Mine is 2 turns out from lightly seated. Fuel screw primarily affects carb from idle to 1/8 throttle. As you noted at 4 turns out its probably not metering any thing. Try 11/2 to 2 turns out. Also be advised freshly uncorked xr650r`s generate a great deal of enthusiasm in their owners, enjoy it! :)
