14 Yz450. What can I do to smooth the power out ?

Heck no! I'm slow but I like my ride plush. They were done by Shock Therapy a week after I brought her home. Stock was good, re sprung and valved, priceless.

I agree. I thought my KX suspension was good, but this stuff blows it out of the water. I was working way too hard on the Kawi.

Yoshimura full system and a flywheel weight really smoothed out the bark off the low end. Still has tons of power just doesn't want to kick you off the bike. Also I have the MXA map for the exhaust system from there pipe shootout.

The power was noticeably smoother. 
It started more easily/consistently.

I'll have to try this one. I've thought the bike was a little hard starting for FI. My 06 KX was 1-3 kicks max at anytime, hot or cold. The YZ is 4-5 cold and 2-3 hot, and it has a flame out issue occasionally. I figured it was too lean. Thanks for posting.

I went through the flame out issues and yes you need to remap. How many hours have you got on yours?

After mine was remapped it starts a whole better esp. when its hot now usually 1 kick. Have you put vents on your forks?

The bleeders? Yes. One to two kicks is really what I expected with FI. After the first few rides I kind of figured it was set up lean. I remember that that's how they ship all the WR's to meet emissions. Makes sense they would do it to all their bikes.

They don't.  There's no standard to meet for closed course competition bikes, so the YZ's aren't emissions compliant.  But they are set up to work out of the box at altitudes from sea level to close to 5000 feet, so they can tend to be a little lean near sea level as delivered.

That would be here. Only a couple hundred feet above sea level. So I'm guessing that I need to actually spring for a tuner rather than just borrow one since my riding areas do fluctuate quite a bit in elevation.

Was this on yr 2014, or 15 model & stock or aft market exhaust ?

Im currently running this mapping on my YZ 450F 2014, although is still to abrupt/aggressive off the bottom. Any suggestions on how to smooth/mellow this out ?

Full DR D exhaust, sand tracks mostly, & racing in & around the 20 degree mark

Mine is a stock 2015, except for softer springs and a little shim shifting.  I found the map by searching Google, images, "smooth yz450 map".   It showed up about 3 pages down, It's apparently from the CDR Rockstar Yamaha Team.

 

Is 20 degrees in *C or *F?  It's winter down there in the southern hemisphere correct? (I assumed your were Australian, having called me 'mate').

 

I've raced with this mapping in temps ranging from 75-95 *F, and 1000-2000 ft elevation.  Sand track, hard pack, and mud.

Do you have an upgraded exhaust?And also plugging up the muffler a little bit gives you more bottom and a smother hit to get to the top end. I my self love bottom end more than anything and with plugging it up you get more bottom and a smother transaction to mid all the way up to top. You lose horse power but not enough to feel.

The first few hours on this bike, I had flashbacks of my 2008/09 RMZ450.  I HATED that damn thing, simply because of the crappy starting and stalling.  First race on the 2015 YZ, I stalled several times and it was taking a bunch of kicks to restart it.  I knew it was new and would improve, but was not happy.  I'm impatient. 

 

Remapped----golden.  Not one single stall in about 10 hours of riding.  I'm happy.

I wonder how it works on the 14

I ended up using the gradual response map from the GYTR website and the bike is awesome now. The map I had before was the Preston map and it had too much of a hit for me.
