Get good steel sprockets and a good Xring chain.

Sprocket brands

You replace chain and sprockets AT THE SAME TIME.

Inspect the teeth to see if they are symetrically shaped. If they are not, they are wearing out your chain.

If there is any 'hook' to the tooth, it is no good.

Always buy similar quality for front, rear, and chain.

Don't mix quality (like a cheap-o chain with the good sprocket)

DID VT-2 is the best chain, and will last 200+ hours if properly maintained, and you are not racing full time.
