my first valve clearence check - please help

hi

im going to check my 2000 yz426f valve clearence for the first time, i have the manual and i wanted to know if u guys can give me extra info. before ill start ....

(im not a mechanic but i have good hands and the manual )

Like holeshot says, you can do the job with only removing the tank and seat. You'll have to fiddle with the valve cover for a minute to get it past the frame, but once you have the right angle it will pop right out. I was able to use standard feelers, they fit in just right. Maybe holeshot's regular feelers were wider than mine?

You don't have to remove the radiator and hoses (like the manual says).

Make sure that you have the narrow motorcycle type feeler gauges (not the wide automotive type).
