Shavings on magnetic drain plug after complete rebuild?

3 posts in this topic

Is this normal for the first oil change after new crank, all bearings, seals, oil pump, cylinder, top end?? There were enough shavings to make a little afro all the way across the magnet.Just a tiny fleck or two in the filter, and a few tiny flecks in the drained oil. The clutch is fairly new,but was already broken in.My bike is a 2007 YZ450f.

It depends on a lot of things, but it wouldn't seem odd to me.  OTOH, if you left a bad bearing in there, well...

Any time you have a transmission, you're going to have metal shed into the oil.
