G-Damm it Yamaha, I expect to see the YZ450FX by spring, OK?

I think Yamaha is a little slow on new builds of certain models. Unless pushed. (Planned obsolesce)  Too busy building pianos. Keep pushing boys likely they already have the bikes built in a secret facility in Japan.

I'm not kidding.....there will be BLOOD if we don't get a good e-start cross-country bike from ONE of you motorcycle companies in Asia......GDAMN IT!

It should be you, YAMAHA , as we trust you to make products that actuall last, and are not fragile, with normal ergos.

   *** DO IT ! ***

You're probably going to have to wait a year, but I bet it happens for 2016.

Make your own, krannie. All the parts are easily available.

The only new part on the yz250fx is the starter on the yz250f engine. And the 6 speed gearset. Everything else is straight off the yammie parts shelf. If you start with a wr450f, its already got a starter. Add/remove parts as you see fit.

Other than having a starter and the reverse engine layout, the yz450fx isnt going to be much different than the bike i built. If its anything like mine, its going to rip.

Yeah it is. The backwards motor is a pretty big deal, in case you haven't noticed. It will out-rip your frankenbike by a long shot, and STILL have e-start to boot.

Name what is going to be different ?

The shock will be a YZ model.  Same as has been used since 2006.  Valving will be model specific, but most of us will need a respring/revalve anyway.

Forks will be SSS, same as been used since 2008.  Valving will be model specific, but most of us will need a respring/revalve anyway.

The reverse cylinder engine, if they use it, is standard YZ fare, tuned differently.  But the current WR engine, especially with various YZ parts, isn't lacking at all.

The frame will be based on YZ bike, maybe the 250F.  Not much change there.

18 inch rear wheel.   Check.

The rest of the bits and pieces are standard Yamaha fare.  And Yamaha will be lucky to get the 450FX has light as my WR is.  My WR is about the same weight as the YZ250FX and the YZ450FX will be heavier.

Then you have a good point, especially since the YZFX is fuel injected, which usually adds a couple pounds.  If you are telling me that the engine package on a YZ450FX would be 11 pounds lighter than the engine package on our WR450Fs, I am extremely interested !

Oh so you finally weighed your bike? No? Still just guessing then. Come back when you've actually weighed and maybe someone will listen to you.

 No they won't

I'll save my breath.   Have fun on your heavy, stock WRs.

You mean you'll save your finger muscles.....

I get a kick out of every time you rant about ergo's. By your own admission any bike with ergo's to fit you would be way out of wack for the average size rider.

....accept the 2011 WR, CRF450X, KX450, pre 2009 CRF450R all fit me fine with a seat and bar change.

My point is that most new bikes have 'shrunk' in ergos, which is a way to save weight.....which is dumb: higher pegs, closer bars, etc.

...so stop being a hater.

Oh please! Hater??? Just sayin because you don't like the fit of a bike doesn't mean it's crap for the rest of the world. I'm out. See ya!

Yes hater. You attack people. That is a hater.

I don't attack anything, I describe my dissapointment with a brand/product the purports to be superior in all it's ads. Superior at what? Being light. Wow.

...oh, and I own a KTM, so I can voice my opinion with honesty and accuracy.

You just spew.

"Yamaha Factory Racing Rally Team Yamalube is gearing up for the 2015 Dakar Rally with a new team roster and updated WR450F Rally. Alessandro Botturi joins returning Yamaha pilots Oliver Pain and Michael Metge on the factory-backed team. Riders benefit from a refined machine which now includes a single carbon fiber fuel cell, electric start, six-speed gearbox and new Akrapovic exhaust. The full press release issued by Yamaha is included below, which includes specs for the new WR450F Rally and a video introduction to the 2015 Yamaha team. – MotoUSA Ed.

Mm"

OK, this is VERY good news.

We know this bike is limited production (probabaly for teams only) but what they describe, is the new WR450F(X?) underneath, no doubt:

Narrower and more compact, the WR450F Rally is more maneuverable and easier to place. But this solution is only one of a number of improvements made to the machine that, among other things, gains an electric starter, without increasing overall weight and a six speed gearbox.

So, if I read that correctly, this is actually based on the YZ, as is the new 250FX, so we SHOULD see a non-rally version of this new bike pretty soon, probably like the 250, as a YZ450FX.

RIGHT !?

RIGHT YAMAHA ?

VERY SOON ?

Frankly I would be surprised if they didn't come out with a new WR450 and YZF450FX next year in the same vein as the 250s this year. The 12+ WR450s are halfway there already with the frame, suspension & FI, just need to turn that motor around, shave some weight in the process and add a 6th gear.

Most sensible comment on this thread. Honestly though The current wr450 is an awesome reliable machine made to be rode hard by men who are not afraid of the added weight of a kick stand. : )

Let's get it straight and some women.

We should add the disclaimer that most mere mortals would be faster on a 250 under most circumstances.  A few of us have reached the summit of Mt. Everest on XR50s and ride custom CR1000 twins in tight woods.

You must not ride hills or weigh more than #170 then!

My 350 is too slow...
