'12+ WR450F: Magnetic Drain Plug suggestions?

I need some recommendations, please.

My WR450F 2013 Owners Manual says it's an M6 size.

Has anyone fit a magnetic drain plug to a '12+ model, that they liked?

I can not seem to find a store that can sell me one.  They all seem to stop at the '09 year model.

Confusing at best that would put the 12' and up at 10x1.25mm. Another poster said a 10mm wouldn't fit. Someone needs to just measure their original bolt with a metric ruler.

Yeah, I'm hoping it is the right size.  I just bought that one on e-bay, based on it saying 2012 WR compatible.  I have an 07 YZ, and I think the bolts are the same size.  I probably won't be doing an oil change on the WR for at least another 2 weeks.

Hmmmm.  Moose racing sells a silver magnetic plug that is also listed for a 2003-2013 WR450F model years: P/N 0920-0044.

But, they dont specify what the size of the thing is.

Edit:

More data on the Zip-Ty product, offered by Moose Racing. Zip-Ty has their own website, and they show *one* non-anodized, silver magnetic bolt for Yam cycles... and its a different size (M8) that all the rest of their anodized offerings for Yam cycles (M10 / M12).

You should measure yours. The newer bikes should take a 1.25 thread pitch. You can also get a gauge or take it to the hardware store to check the tread pitch.

You're right, I should measure it.  I just did an oil change last weekend, Oh Well.

I'm a little surprised, tho.  I've had one recommendation and so far, no one has told me of a purchase they installed and they're happy with.

With all the types of traffic this site get's, it surprises me that, for all this time, no one has discussed this.

I'll change my oil when I get that one from Taiwan and let you know how it goes / what size the bolt is.  I have new oil in mine too, so figure I'll change it after I do 4 rides these next 2 weekends.

I have written requests to Zip-Ty, and Gold Plug, to determine if they can sell us an M8 x 1.25 x 16m long.

I'll let you guys know what they say...

I've received an answer from Gold Plug:

/***********************************

Do you make one of these?:

M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm long

The request is for a '13 Yamaha WR450F.

Thanks,
Bob Gardner

Hi Bob,

You need our MP-11:

Thanks,

Gold Plug

I've never heard back from Zip-Ty. Apparently, they're not interested in my business.

I'm gonna go with the Gold Plug product, since they have an exact fitment for a good quality.

A bit more from Gold Plug:

/***************************

Your website for the MP-11 does not give me all of the size information, so I'm asking for confirmation here.

The MP-11 is of size M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm long.

Yes?

Thanks,
Bob

Yes, our MP-11 is that thread and will work with your bike.  The threads are a little shorter than 16mm, but will not affect anything.

Thanks,

Gold Plug

They dont say exactly how much shorter, but a "little shorter" is.... a little shorter.  Since they say it will not affect the application, I'm willing to believe them.

Its probably in the 0.5mm range of being "a little shorter".

I got that Taiwan made bolt off of e-bay and it is real nice, but is M10.  I too confirmed my 2012 uses the M8.
