Yamaha YZ450F top speed of 90MPH + Is it possible?

With the right gearing, no problem. One bigger in front, then as small as you can in back. I think I ran a 36 or 38 on my Wr when I road raced it. I never had a gps on it, but it would run with sv650's.

mine dam near runs it with two down in the back and gets there fast.

I remember seeing a 450 comparison from 2012 or 2013 in Dirt Rider that said all the new MX 450s had a top speed of 90-100. I dont know how they came up with that

Mathematically, assuming the ability to hit the rev limit under a 5th gear load and zero tire slip, they all do top out between 90-100.  Realistically, however, they will run out about 10mph slower than that.

It has no fairings apart from the original plastics and supermoto front guard and wheels special exhaust and a high comp piston still a 450 running 16-40 gearing, dyno runs to get the power and an absolute gem to race you can see some pics on facebook Axle Armor Tracksliders

I hit 104 on pavement with my '13 on my way from Alfonsina's to Coco's Corner. I was running 15/48 gearing.

I don't know about the '13 but on an 06 that gearing basically ruins first gear. I just picked up an 06 with that gearing and it's nearly unridable.

I don't doubt this bike could break 100 though.

I hit 100 yesterday on my 2009 YZ450f Supermoto.  14/40 gearing on 17" wheels

That's a 3 years old WR450F with snorkel, racekit muffler with pea-shooter and WR timing(!), going 92mph.

 

So my (guessed) answer to your thread's main question is: hell, yes of course!

 

In my previous bike I was running 15:44 (for engine protection on the freeway),

the 2012 mentioned in my thread currently has a 47 at the rear.

 

But then again it all depends on the amount of wheelspin you'd need at your specific stomping grounds to go that fast.

To my shock I found out that I'm running 13:47 when doing 92 mph. 

I hate the noise from the 13 teeth sprocket. For road commuting I'll go with a 15 teeth.

guys racing supersingles can easily keep up with sv's.  i dont think 100 would be hard at all.  IIRC I ran a 15 38 on my supermoto last time I road raced it at MAM.........and won..........I miss that bike

The fastest road race winning built to the hilt 09' YZ450 is in the 120+ MPH that I know of. It produces some serious dyno numbers as well and cannot run on pump gas.

If you're talking built engines, then it's no problem.  A good YZ450 flat tracker should hit 100 on a half mile oval. 

+1 on the front will get you into the 90's. Stock will do mid to high 80's.

Agreed. I've had two 426's and now an 03 450. 15/48 gearing flywheel weight 18" rear.

Just needs the right gearing. I raced a 426 in a tz125 with my Ducati 900 and the 426 walked away.

WR 1st and 5th on my 07 YZF I hit 95mph and could have squeezed a few more if I had room. 14t front sprocket stock rear (50?)
