I believe that the point is the width of the two bikes? The newer YZs are wider to be sure, but it's not an issue at all.

 

That being said, all I see when I look at that '09 are my boots getting caught in the top of the shroud. That was a real problem for me that I was never able to fully resolve.

I don't feel the width while riding my 14. It looks beefy looking at it like that but it feels fine.

Have a set of cycra shrouds on the way, shaves 35 mm off each side of the width. Happy days.
