steering stem bearings

4 posts in this topic

Ownerfter rebuilding the bottom and top end of my 06 wr450 (do to taking it for a swim)..I decided to go through all the swingarm and linkage bearings as well as steering stem bearings. As I've read on this forum...Yamaha appears to be very stingy with grease and I don't think the previous Owner had done much with them either. They were all in rough shape so I replaced them all. My question is....when you guys service your conical steering bearings...do you pack them like a wheel bearing on an auto...or do you just smear grease on them like Yamaha does?
