Say it isn''t so.  I have a sweet 07 CRF450R for sale in San Diego.  22 hours! Stock.

 

I just picked up a brand new 2013 WR450 and I'm loving it!  I broke it in this past Sunday out in Ocotillo Wells.  I rode 65 miles on the WR and it was a complete blast.  The seat is stiff as hell.  The suspension is sweet!  The engine is corked up but I had fun.  Wow is this bike a dream in the desert compared to my CRF.  I'm an older dude and I needed and wanted a magic button.  Why did I wait this long!  My 07 CRF engine is far more powerful than this stock corked up YAMI.  IT didn't matter after I put some miles on the WR.  It so much easier to ride and it feels lighter even though it weighs more than the CRF. 

 

I've ordered the Comp ECU and I plan to change out the throttle body limiter screw.  I also plan to gut the stock exhaust can for now and take out the airbox snorkel. 

 

I do have a question regarding the Comp ECU.  If I install it will the default mapping be like the stock ECU until I program it?

 

I can't wait to ride it after I get my mods done.

Congrats!  I recently did the same.  Sold my 08 CRF450r with 38hrs and bought a 12WR.  I've always wanted a barely legal plated dirtbike and the Honda just wasn't gonna cut it for riding to work ocaasionally and blasting fire roads.  Plus, the CRF was getting to be a handful in the tight woods for me.  I have yet to ride mine more than around my sub, but so far I'm diggin it. :thumbsup:

Wait till your get the mods done. Stock is 19Hp and with the mods and map 38-40Hp. I have two friends that ride 07-08 CRF450's and they love the power of my WR. If you have not been on an unplugged FI WR450 your going to love it. You did not have to compromise with the WR and your Green Sticker now.

The Comp ECU is a night and day difference from the stock unit. You will be able to notice it immediately.

Wait till your get the mods done. Stock is 19Hp and with the mods and map 38-40Hp. I have two friends that ride 07-08 CRF450's and they love the power of my WR. If you have not been on an unplugged FI WR450 your going to love it. You did not have to compromise with the WR and your Green Sticker now.

19hp stock on a WR 450, I don't think so....

The WR I rode, the suspension was setup by TBT, it was quite impressive and handled great. Felt a little heavy in the front but I attribute that to the softer suspension....

I think so.

This is a US bike not a CAN bike. We get to deal with EPA over here. Stock the throttle only opens up 1/4 of full. The exhaust has a 1/2" (13mm) plug in it. The ECU is non programable with a very lean EPA, CA CARB map. The bike runs like a 125 at best stock. I don't know how the dealer can sell them with out having them all come back. We all know what to do here. But there are guys that buy these WR's and leave them stock and love how that are. You also need to get the FI diagnostic tool and bump up the idle CO as it is way to lean. Yamaha is now telling the dealers to bump the CO to 7 Thats still to low and most dealers don't know or have the tool to do it.

Don't gut the can. Just remove the pea shooter that is inside the end of the pipe. Remove the end cap and drill the two rivets out and pull the inner pipe out. Or you can replace the whole end pipe.

 

The Comp ECU has a much more aggressive base map. It will run much better with the Comp ECU without adding a map to it. But I would recommend getting a power programmer and trying out the other maps. The base map hits hard off the bottom.

Thank you all for your feedback! I posted another thread regarding the ecu. Basically, I pulled the baffle plate out and my stock ecu kept shutting my bike off (to lean right?). After getting a closer look at how restricted that stock can is, I'm going to add a slip on that has a sparky in it so I'm open to your suggestions.

Thanks for the info on the comp ecu mapping. Until I get a programmer or find a friend here in San Diego that has one I'm hoping the bike will start and idle after adding the slip on, the short throttle screw, and the comp ECU. It must be a completely different bike once you uncork it and remap it. I'm excited =D

I removed my pea shooter. That helped a good bit. Then I switched over to a Dr. D slip on and it was night and day. The power delivery is smoother but there is a good bit more of it.

Are you using the stock ecu or comp ecu?

19 HP seems way to low for any 450 stock or not. I have a hard time believing that
