2014 Skid Plates?

Looking at options for a skid plate. Any reason not to get the off-road version (shields for the water pump and generator) instead of the MX version? I ride 100% on tracks, but why not have the extra protection offered by the off-road versions? Do they get in the way?

Anyone make a carbon fiber skid plate for the '14?

Thanks.

I have the Works Connection full coverage skid plate, and I only ride MX.  It does offer great protection….

My only concern was stray rocks etc punching through the cases, I zip tied a home made rubber pad between the frame rails which offers the coverage of a skid plate. Bonus - mud etc just falls off the slightly flexible surface.

Ghetto , I know, but it works  LOL :)

Lightspeed has one for the '14. It will take a little while to get it since they are on backorder.

I just ordered the GYTR composite one. Just to have the kind of protection you want from stray rocks. We'll see how it holds up...

I just got the works connection extended coverage and it's prime looks great and will help with them dam rocks! Some say it transfers more engine noise but not if you install the thing properly

I purchased the GYTR plastic glide plate because that was all that was available at the time. To be honest, save the money and wait for the lightspeed carbon if you want something trick, or get the works connection one. The GYTR plastic glide plate is junk, they slide on the frame, come loose and dont fit very good. A mate of mine lost his a few weeks ago.  I'm going to go with the lightspeed one when they are in stock.

I got the TM Designworks on mine a few months back and really like it for the protection it offers. Only down side is that you have to remove it to change the oil. Other than that it's light and tough as nails.

Just checked out the website. Do you got a pic of it on the bike? It says the water pump guard can come off too? Edited by ca412686

Save up and wait for the LightSpeed ... it is so so good

Has anyone seen listings for the Cycra full coverage plate for the 2014, or does the 2010 - 2013 fit?

Here are a couple of pictures of the TM Designworks. I've had it on for almost three months now and it's taken a lot of abuse.

That thing looks good, but very thick too. Guessing it is plastic, but I'll take a look.

Thanks.

Looks pretty good.

I think I am between this one and the light speed.

Not a 14 but here is a look at the light speed, I beat the snot out of it and it still looks just as good as day one and its very thin and light.

I like the TM. Tried to order one for mine but it's $60 for shipping to Canada. The smaller skid is only $52. Can't justify paying just over $60 for shipping with a part being less. They told me to choose usps, but there's no option to choose.

Well, they managed to change the shipping around and I bought the TM mx skid plate. I really like it, but you do have to remove for oil changes. Thanks for the suggestion!

The pattern dims for the 2014 Light Speed was taken over 5 months ago, I would think they would have been out by now.
