All New KX 450F in 2015?

14 posts in this topic

I have read the RMZ 450 will be all new in 2015 but what about the KXF models?

The motor on the KX 450 is great but overall the bike feels big to me.  In my opinion the perfect bike would be the KXF 450 motor in the CRF layout.

I would really like to get a new bike but the Honda requires some motor work to enhance the top-end and though like I said the Kawasaki 's motor is great it's just a big bike for me at 5"10 185lbs.

I really don't want to buy a bike and in a few months the latest and greatest model is out and all of a sudden my bike is old or dated.  I'm in no hurry because my son races and keeps me busy but I still have the fever to ride.  I guess it never goes away!

The kawi feels pretty good to me , ill take the size over the crf, I had a 12 crf and with everything done to it it was cramped feeling and twitchy.. The kawi is like chillin  on a green couch , the bike is very predictable and once you get the suspension right it handles the best imo. Id rather them put some bigger radiators and a 1.6 cap, a more solid feeling clutch and maybe even a hydro clutch, throw the chain guide it the $hitter and put something on there that last more than 6 hours, maybe invest in some better fasteners  , chains and sprockets. Id be pretty happy with that :)

Looking forward to any changes in reality , new may not be good but its always fun .

Kawasaki usually makes changes in 3 year cycles. They have done this since the 90s with the 2-strokes. 2006-2008 KX450Fs were close, same basic chassis and plastic, 2009-2011 were basically the same, and 2012 -2014 are close. So if they stick to their normal mode, we will get a revamped model in 2015.

Anyone have any updates? Any rumors out there? Trying to decide on whether I want to get a 13 or 14 next month or if I should hold out and get financially screwed with a 15.

Where did you read that RMZs are going to be all new? Same place that says the YZ 250 is going away?

As for the KXF, why change it much of any? It's been the best bike pretty much hands down and until KTM fixes their suspension I see no reason for them to want to change it...

Also read and heard that the 2015 RMZs will be totally new, but didnt get any specifics other than a difference in the frame. Kawi changes every 3 years. Havent heard the YZ250 going away thing.

The all new RMZ450 Rumor was a failure after seeing whats on offer for 2015/ Lets see what the Green brings.

Also was told by a friend that the redesign was pushed back another year, but he was still waiting to hear back on exactly what the 2015 would entail.

It would not surprise me to see the Showa SFF Air fork on the KX450F. It's coming on the Suzuki and the team has been running it for a couple years now. The Suzuki even has the triple chamber fork, really trick. KYB has something called the PSF 2 which may also be a possibility. We'll know before too long.

So with the triple chamber fork, you have to check 3 air pressures? What's the benefit of that?

But only on one leg. My understanding is there is a high and low pressure compression with another on the right lower leg that acts like the negative spring that we have in the current KYB PSF forks.
