Oiling issue

A friend of mine recently removed the cams from his low mileage '04 WR 450, and found both cams had signs of galling where they run in the cylinder head. It looks like a lack of lubrication, or a factory initial clearance problem The head was taken off and the galling is being addressed, but the root cause is unresolved. The valves have never been adjusted, so the cam tower torque is not an issue. Is there any report of top end oiling problems with these early WR 450s? Is there any way to check for adequate oil flow/pressure externally? We will check the oil pump for integrity,but that still does not confirm there is adequate oil presure in the system...

Oil change Intervals, filters, screens, pressure testing.

Not cleaning the frame screen is a common source of low pressure to the head, as is incorrectly changing the oil filter (debris in lower passage) and or not changing the oil filter OFTEN.
