What year is this yz450f?

Its an 06 or 07. Check the tenth digit on the frame vin number. Should be a 6 for 06 or 7 for 07

So this will still be a carburated bike then?

Yup. 450s did not get efi til 2009. Yz got it later and ktm got it in 2013.

well looks like an 08. jyacj10c98a028035. Well little disappointed. my pastor knows a yamaha factory racer that raced this bike a little. He thought it was a newer year bike. Said that bike went back to yamaha works factory and they redid everything but the tranny. Asking $3500. Thought it was going to be the steal of the lifetime, but I was hoping it was going to be a 11 or 12, until i saw the picture.

Looks like it has 05 forks and shock on it, as well as an 05 lower triple clamp. Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the top triple clamp may be an 06-09, which could cause some fork issues when combines with the 05 lower clamp. The exhaust looks like an 06-07 (which isn't a bad thing), front brake caliper looks like 07 or older, and the brake rotors are 06 or older. If it has an 08 VIN then it looks like it has had a lot of the parts swapped for older model parts.

Pretty sure it's an 07

The 06 had that little chamber on the header pipe, the 08 had a short pipe and the 09went back to the long pipe with a chamber on the header as well

No EFI until 2010. '09 was carburetted.

The swing arm has to be '06-'08; the '09 was different.

Round rotors are pre-'07

Muffler looks like an '07, but the header looks like '06. The distinction would be definite stepped increases in diameter on the head pipe for the '07.

The forks do look like '05's which would be a huge let down, but I don't think you even can mix the '05 bottom clamp with an upper from '06-'09. There is a 2mm width difference between the two as far as fork tube spacing, and that would make the axle lugs closer to 10 or 12 mm too wide at the axle.

KJ could be right, or it might be that it started out as an older bike that got a newer frame.

There's no such place in the states, as far as I know, and they would never have done this. Yamaha usually destroys their old real factory bikes, which are all overseas. No factory teams in the U.S.

Looks alot like my 2006.

Still sounds like a good bike. Why are you set on EFI? Some will say that carb bikes are faster on Moto tracks. Supercross is another story.

Thank ya'll for the replies. Decided to pass on the bike. Don't really need the 450 right now. Not near that level.

Good choice, I think $3500 was way overpriced for that bike anyway. If it was raced it was prolly beat to hell lol.
