426 rebuild?

3 posts in this topic

So I got the old 426 out from hibernation, started pretty easy, rode around the yard a little and it starts making a slight knocking noise that only happens after it gets warmed up. Haven't tore into it yet I'm waiting on some suspension parts to show up. What do you guys think I should do to it if say I need a new top end, I'm thinking about going with factory ss valves with matching springs, probably put some hot cams in it while I'm there for the auto decompression, not really sure about the cylinder yet. What do you think I should do.

I think you should find out what the noise is and whether it's even abnormal. These things aren't exactly known for being quiet at idle.
