  1. Nice! You should make a video on how you did it.
  2. Well the guy ended up coming down even more on the price so im now the proud owner of a 2015 WR450. So far im 100% satisfied and haven't had any issues with it not wanting to start. Coming from a DRZ 250 this bike is like night and day! Is there any way to read the total hours on the ecu with a diagnostic tool? I know you can on the competition ecu's but haven't had much luck finding out if it can be done on the stock ecu.
  3. Ok thanks for the advice. Hopefully I can find a used 2016 soon!
  4. I am trying to decide between buying a used 2015 or used 2016 wr450. I found a 2015 with only 40 miles on it for $5500 so I'm just wondering if I should buy it or wait for a good deal on a 2016. I have read about starting issues with the previous generation (2012-2015) bikes. Was the problem corrected by 2015? I want the bike for trail riding and I want something that is going to last a long time and not have any issues so do you thing new design of the engine on the 2016 is going to be as reliable as the older version?
  5. He said the gnarly was more for bottom end but thats fine with me im not racing just fields and some woods. I just have to get the jetting right now. He said I would need a 45 pilot jet so I put that in then he said it was too lean so when I got the bike back I put a 48 in it but havent had a chance to test it yet. The 52 that came with it was deff to rich so hopefully this 48 works for me.
  6. Well I went and picked the bike up to night and have to say it does start much eaiser now than before! The guy said he was mistaken and the power valve part that he thought was missing actually wasnt. Sounds a little fishy but he gave me all the old parts and the gears on the power valve stuff were shot. He said he also found that the timing was retarded and he fixed that. Im wondering if that was my problem all along. Does anyone have any experience with the fmf gnarly pipe on a 2003 KX 250? He said that pipe is not good on this year and a fatty would be alot better for it.
  7. It does seem like it has good compression when kicking it. I tried to do a compression test but I just have a cheap eBay tester and it leaks so I couldn't get an accurate reading. That makes sense what you said about the piston making compression after it gets past the exhaust valve. The guy I took it to rebuilds alot of these motors and is supposed to be really good but it sounds like he might be ripping me off... I guess I will see soon. Oh well lesson learned!
  8. I recently bought a 2003 Kx 250 and the previous owner put on a new cylinder piston and crank. The bike started fine when I went to see it but after I got it home it is very hard to start. I have cleaned the carb 3 times, checked the reeds, checked for air leaks, spark is good and blue. So I finally took it to a mechanic he checked it out and did a leak down test. He said he only got 4 psi in it and it started leaking out of exhaust and said the power valve is no good. He also said when the guy rebuilt the motor he didnt put back the power valve spur gear and said this part has been discontinued but he has a few in the shop. My question is could a bad power valve cause the bike to be this hard to start?
