  1. Thanks for the input. I'm still thinking the D606 is going to be my choice. My son is 13 and we just got rid of his CRF70F and I'm hunting down a bigger bike for him now. With that said, I know I'm gonna be off the road with him more this year than last since he was too big for the 70 last year. It makes sense to me to get a tire that so I can at least get on the trails with him.
  2. It's time to put new rubber on my 07 XR650L. I ride 90% on the pavement and hop on the trails from time to time. I'm kinda liking the D606 Dual Sport tire but when I size it up at Rockymountain's site it calls for a 120/90x18 but also gives option for a 130. This is a wider tire correct? And if so has anyone tried a wider rear tire, will this one fit? Any suggestions for a better tire or even somewhere cheaper than r.m.atv/mc?
  3. I was born in 64, got my first mini-bike when I was was about 8 and that would be in 72, then in 74 an MX 80 so yes- the math works out! 👍😏 My son is almost 11 and we got him his first bike, a beat to snot PW50, for his 4th birthday, then a new JR50 for his 5th birthday and then a new CR70f for Christmas 3 years ago. Kid has had 3 bikes so far, how spoiled 😏
  4. Broc Glover!! I had a Super Combat! Don't know about the trans gears being plastic but I'd swear the rear spokes were! Gawd did I want Maico. My buddy had a silver Indian dirtbike, a guy around the corner raced MX for Harley, and still another getting the new Cr250R Elsinore. He could wheely forever, I mean forever on that thing. His dad raced a 390 Huskymatic. Remember the Rock Busters? You mounted them to your helmet - it was like a face guard and your Scotts would fit nicely in between the duckbill and the Rock Buster. Crossbar tool kits? Loved the downpipe on my YZ100 but hated the loss of ground clearance. On Any Sunday was the BEST (still is) movie out there. Dad trying to convince my mom Easy Rider was just about motorcycles and it would be ok for me to go to the drive-in (remember those?) with them...and then he wouldn't let me watch the movie after he saw what was really going on! I remember when Evel said he'd never jump again - my hero was done, my life was over.
  5. Just found some old photos- this was taken in fall of 77 when I was 13. My 2nd motorcycle, a 1976 YZ100. Punched out and jetted, don't remember any of the specs on it though. You can see the down pipe on it- super loud and ran great but problems were greater than benefit. Since it bolted to the frame on the bottom and there was sooo much vibration I was constantly replacing that lower mounting bolt. You can also see how much ground clearance I lost with it. Guess I thought I was pretty bad back then with the suit, florsheim's and a YZ. Good times, good times!
  6. Found this; http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/906056458.html it went up on craigs on the 4th - just thought I'd pass it along in case someone was looking - you know, don't bogart that lead my friend, maybe it was something else not to bogart
  7. I just had to go back and watch that again. DAM that makes my butt pucker!!
  8. I CUT it short! I'm totally into horror films etc but the real stuff like that is something else. I was in middle of eating a nice BLT I just made for lunch too - darnit! someone might edit that post and make note this is the real deal and not some cheesy make-up stuff.
  9. it's a duck hunt now - just wait for the right one. I paid 4k otd for an 07 w-1100 on it and was like new, only wear was the center of the tires - prev owner never had it off the road - there's was no dirt on it whatsoever and from the tire wear he wasn't riding it hard on the street either. Patience! This is the right time of year to buy and a good time considering the financial climate.
  10. I always ran 60wt in my Shovelheads, 50 in the winter. Don't know about Amsoil in the bike, but I ran that in my 92 Wrangler YJ - it was the 4cly that was notorious for bad wrist-pins in the motor. I got 275k on that motor and was still running when I gave the jeep away. I'm positive the Amsoil is what kept that motor together - I beat the crap outa it, ran 32s on it for all of those miles and the motor started every time, didn't smoke a bit and really never lost compression.
  11. I thought maybe I was uber-critical but the copy this cat wrote is horrible. I've been very lucky with used equipment standing by my belief that if the ad is poorly written or full of errors then most likely the item is in the same condition. Just a rule of thumb and not gospel, but it's always worked for me.
  12. I got mine at xrsonly dot com but I'm really diggin that one reptile411 posted a pic of - I like the way the top has those notches in it - looks like it's made to have a trunk locked onto it. I'd like a case/trunk that has dimensions about 1" all the way around larger than an 18 pack of my favorite beverage! 🤣😛
  13. Aw c'mon they're not that bad- especially the new Vision🤣😛
  14. So I gotta ask the question - Are studed tires available? I should be shot for asking but can't help myself. When I was a kid in the 70's my dad used to take me the the Coliseum (anyone from this area remember the big house on the hill in Richfield?) to watch the mc races on ice. NOW THAT was some wicked crapola there - hoooooly crap I can remember it like it was, well last month.
