  1. ill tear it apart again today and have a look, maybe ill take some pics so you can see if anything is wrong.
  2. vacuum is connected and needle spacers are in the correct order, but i have no idea what "need retainer pop loose?" is and as far as i could tell the slide looked to be in great shape. tomorrow i will drop the needle that was in it back in and see what that does for it.
  3. posted in jetting forum as well... ive had this drz since new and have only put about 1500 miles on it, in fact i recently loaned it to a friend just to keep the battery charged and fresh gas in it. well, he rode it once in four months so of course it now has a new battery, but i decided to go with the james dean jet kit instead of cleaning the jets that were in it as the bike never quite ran right. now i have a new set of problems: it starts only without the choke and the throttle must be cracked. revs beautifully on the stand, but its a different story once i throw a leg over it. idles great and screams once the revs catch up but falls flat on its face from 1/8-7/8. when i bought the bike i had the stealership put the pipe, air filter, and jet kit on it. as i was putting the jd kit in i realized the jd needle is huge compared to the needle that came out of the bike, not sure if they actually put a different needle in or if its stock but its tiny. 2005 drz-s yosh full stainless 3x3 uni air filter 160 main 25 pilot jet that came with the kit blue needle on 3rd clip a/f 2.5 turns out im at 11' asl current temp is 45-55f i am so sick pulling the damn tank off to get to this carb, but i am sure you can help eddie, thanks. 4. taffy mod researched, i'll try it tonight. thanks
  5. wow, i just got mine and absolutely love it! lots of mods to follow, first things first the stock bars have got to go as im leaned way over when standing up. thinking about rox 2" risers and a set of carmichael hi's for my 6' frame. anyone tried that set up? will the stock cables fit without binding too bad? its got a nice big tank too but its certainly been white-er, anyone tried krylon fusion on these tanks? i assume the gas coming through the plastic will eventually ruin the paint. also plan to get the 200w stator and an 8" rally light, oh the list goes on and on. it has the same sticky ass stock carb though i think i'll just get used to it, since that frees up more money for other mods on the list.
  6. so i just picked up a 99 wr400 and after finally getting it kicked over and warmed up its got a bad bog off idle when i blip the throttle. i know you cant tell me much without tearing into the carb, but its got an uncorked stock pipe and high flow de-snorkeled airbox. im at sea level and temps are around 75F. idles fine and if the throttle is smoothly applied it pulls fine but blipped near idle it bogs bad. thanks guys
  7. good luck to you. mine was a nightmare. the tolerances for the SU rack are horrible, it was off by close to half an inch in a few places. and it took three months for them to get it to me after i paid for it. very disappointed with HT.
  8. still need to put the new front tire on...
  9. if you would like piece of mind in a crash use nylon break-away bolts instead.

  11. the black one received one coat of krylon fusion front and back and it doesn't budge at any speed, solid. like i said these took a total of 10 minutes to make you could get creative and round all edges if your anal enough.
