Just picked up a 2000 wr 400 that is plated and the shift sensor (wires near the shifter that plug in near the steering stem) have been removed. I can't find any information as to what this mod does and if its good or bad...

I believe the shift sensor was used basically to change the ignition mapping in neutral, for starting & noise emissions. So no problem not having it.

Maybe it's called the neutral safety switch and not the shift sensor?
