Throttle Stop or Not?

i just bought a 2000 WR400F and noticed that there's no throttle stop for full throttle.there's a threaded hole for something,but nothing there.i'm just worried that it was needed.looking at the slide, the slide goes completely up,will it get jammed up?

i'm thinking the screw was left out by the past owner or the dealer when he dropped it off to them.

i cant find the part number if i do need it.

please help~

You need the throttle stop.Get the YZ one.

I beleive the part number is 3TJ-14325-40-00 but you need to confirm it.

How far do you tighten the screw? Do you bury it,or does this act as a restriction?

And whats different about the yz stop screw?

Tighten screw until it seats. The YZ screw is shorter than the WR so you can use the full range of your throttle. OR read the sticky posts at the top of the WR seciton on how much to cut/grind off of your WR screw and save $17.00. IIRC the screw stops the rotation of the pully that the throttle cables attach to. Acts like a govenor. Without it you can effectively turn the throttle to a point of no return and hang it at WFO with no way to easily unstick it while hurdeling towards that cliff/jump/parked truck etc.

Here's a post i made in regards to the 2012 WR450 Throttle stop screw. You can go to ACE hardware, Lowes, Home Depot etc and find the screw. When you remove the throttle stop your basically just stick something in there to keep water, mud, etc from getting in there.

M5 x 7 is the YZ screw size.

If you don't want to purchase the ECU or you are waiting on it. Below is the throttle screw part number.

Appears to be a M5 x 7 socket head screw. I looked at Ace Hardware and they have M5 x 8 screws for 75 cents. So you would have to grind it down 1 mm. Looked like they did carry M5 x 7 but were out of them at the location I was at.

Didn't put a caliper or anything on these just eyeballed by comparison and holding them up to each other.

Not the same screw. The throttle stop screw is a special one, with about 8mm threaded near the head and then a smooth shaft with a rounded tip.
