68 Honda trail 50- got when I was 5, rode till I was 12 and stepped up to my first real dirtbike
80 YZ80- got new, rodethe living crap out of it untill I was way too big for it
80 PE400- Dad decided to try dirtbikes back when I got the 80, he was a big guy, friends convinced him he needed a 400, bad idea. I think he road it twice before he parked it and passed it on to me at 15.
84- IT465- had 2 of these
Now a long stint of no bikes untill a friend introduced me to dual sports and I started riding again, quickly moved to dirt only.
90? DR650- bought cheap and started riding again
95 XR650L- started riding more dirt again
95 KDX200- dirt bikes return, start racing offroad
97 Husaberg FE501- first stab at a 4 stroke dirt bike, still the best 4t motor I've ever ridden
74 Montessa Cota 348 trials bike
00 YZ125- tried the 125 thing, too small for my tastes
00 CR250- sucked in the woods
02 CRF450- ditto
Another short stint of no bikes
07 WR450- tried the 4 stroke thing one last time, over it now, for sale soon
03 RM250- current steed, had just over 2yrs now and loving it.

Yamaha IT175 (1978. Installed YZ suspension. Snappy power. Weak metals.) Replaced by
Can Am 250 Qualifier (1980; great engine, trans; lousy brakes.) After raising boys, replaced by
Honda XR250R (1987; bland but competent.) Replaced by
Yamaha TT350 (1987; what an engine/trans! Clumsy for slow trail riding - knifed in sand.) Replaced by
Suzuki DR350 (1994; another XR with w/way more & thick with torque; turned like no other. Not for whoops.) Replaced by
Suzuki RMX250 (1997; do all bike. Bought one for each of my 3 sons.) Replaced by
KTM 250 EXC RFS. 351cc (2002. Strange, awkward handling, awfully close trans. Don't miss it.) Replaced by
Suzuki RMX250 (1997; ahh - back home.) Supplemented by
Husky WR360 (2001; ate 450s for lunch. Too much bike; way fun.) Supplemented by
KTM 200 EXC (2000. Yes, I ain't got no learnin'.) Replaced by
Husky 250 WXC (1996. With 2004 plastic/graphics & RMX forks. Another do-all/everything bike.) A keeper if son #2 will have it.
Yamaha WR250F (2007.) Another keeper. Current son #3 bike.
Husky WR125 (2009; first new/showroom bike in 30 years. Way fun.) Current son #1 bike.
Suzuki RM250 (2006. The holeshot winner. Every time.) Mine; for a 58/59 YO? Sure.
The last four are kept in my garage and are all brought out when we get together 2-4 times a year. The rest of the time I rotate between them when out with my local riding buddy.

As for my bikes well, hmmm, so many bikes, so many years ago... Let me list the "important" ones (aka my main rides at the time), the ones that I kept to actually ride, not to fix and sell (or took in on trade just to sell), or bought and rode "occasionally" like a few years ago when I had a '96 RMX. Keep in mind that I do remember times when I actually had 6 bikes in the barn ... and they were all mine!!
1975 Kmart mini bike (5hp briggs motor)
1976 ~ '74 Yamaha 175 enduro ... something
1977 Kawasaki KE-100
1978 Suzuki RM-125 (kept for 2 years)
1980 Yamaha YZ-100 (raced for 2 years)
'82 & '83 no bikes
1984 Suzuki GS450 (bought it while stationed in Ft. Hood)
'87 thru '95 no bikes, raced cars and went to college
'95 had a '83 Suzuki GS750e util 2000
'00 & '01 had a '84 Can-Am 250L/C
'02 thru '04 had a 1990 Suzuki RM250, at that time I also built and vintage raced a '74 Can-Am 175 & a '74 Can-Am 250.
'05 thru '08 had a '02 RM250 (hare scramble raced it), and I also vintage raced a '81 RM465 one year and a '81 RM250 for 3 more years.
'09 had a RMZ450 for the summer (hated it when I wanted to go fast in the woods ~ too top heavy)
'09 until the end of 2011 had a 2008 Suzuki RM250 (love'd it!)
Currenty own I a 2012 KTM-300XC-e (awesome bike!), but I also have a '99 RM250 (a bike for the bikeless).
Need a ruling on this one; can I count the 2000 RM250 rolling chassis in my barn?? I don't have a motor but I do have everything else... might be a fun one to drop a RMX motor into.

Mine:
'77 XR75 - awesome learner in 1982; I was 11 years old
'85 KX125 - learned some minor brap technique until the plastic water pump impeller broke and then seized the motor
no bikes for WAY too long
'96 KDX200 in 2007 - nice bike to ease back into this with until I got faster than the suspension
'00 XR650R in 2008 - not a good single track bike - hard to slow down once you reach mach 5
'03 KX250 in 2008 - good bike but a bit small ergo wise (I'm huge)
'03, '04, '07 YZ250 in 2009 - good bikes but not the best handling. crashed alot with front end push. motor a bit too snappy for gnarly trail
various shitty dual sports - yuck
'07 YZ250F in 2010 - nice bike but hard to restart when hot and couldn't tune away bog when throttle whacked open. liked the compression braking on gnarly trail.
'02 CR250 in 2011 - great handling bike with hidden trail power finesse!
'00 200EXC in 2012 - nice lightweight bike but lacks the pizazz of the 250's motor - not a hill climb bike, good trail power overall
Still have the 02 CR and KTM. Got my eye on a Husky CR125 next.
