Has anybody attempted to make one of these or seen one? It'd be easier for my buddy and I with no trailer needed..plus do you think it'd work with a 1996 Ford explorer? Thanks for input and ideas

That's a bad idea with an exploder. I'd really only consider using a dual carrier on a 1/2ton truck or greater. With a one bike carrier you'll drag enough but 2 will just be awful. I think a little rail trailer would be a lot safer and easier.

I guy I know has one, he puts a 350 and 450 KTM on it. The tongue weight his SUV can support is 600 lbs. I wouldn't be surprised if he's exceeding that weight.

If all your worried about is sagging the rear end of your Exployer then you might look into getting a air bag system.

Firestone makes a ride right system that is about $250 and you use your compressor to pump it up when you add a load like dirt bikes.

My dad has ride rights on his f250 and theyre definately handing in reducing bucking while towing and keep thr back end up..And yeah i need to check the tounge ratings on it because I was thinking 2 could be ute  challenge for it. In reality it'd probably be cheaper and not that bad to just use my bike trailer..But with the trailer being 15min away thats that much more pre-ride stuff to do.

And you should probably do some calculations involving the leverage of the bikes. 600lbs total weight sticking an average of 2' from the back of the bumper is a lot different than 600lbs sitting 6" from the bumper.

my friend uses one w/yz250 behind his full size yukon. I won't even ride behind him on a gravel road. He wouldn't put a second bike on it.

Before I had my truck, my buddy and I used one on his '98 Trooper and it worked fine. He has an Xr650 and I have a KTM450.

I have on a super duty so it's no big deal. Add one on anything else can cause frame bending where the hitch mounts. Keep an eye on this ares and you should be fine just don't fly over speed bumps!

This carrier works great!
