Hi everyone, I ride a Honda cr500af, '01motor, and I want to put a rekluse clutch in it but not sure which one to use. zpro or exp. Does anybody out there know which one would be best for a 500 2 stroke? thanks, Kenny H

I have one in my cr 500 afc.  It is the E z start.  the only one they offer of the 500.  Order 6 more TC balls when you get it.  Or the clutch will slip to much at low rpm, our bike make more power down low then the stock clutch set allows for.

I run an EXP in my 09 450 and love the way it feels, plus I can still use my clutch as normal with the lever.  The EXP with heavy springs will not slip as much in your 500.  It'll probably slip just enough to give you more traction.  Thought about getting one for my cr250 but the stock clutch feels fine...

I dont know alot about the clutch, so are you saying I can buy extra tc balls and install them along with what comes with the kit?

There are 21 balls in all.  They sling out as the rpms increase and apply preasure to the clutch pack.  The clutch comes with 6 tungston ball (TC) but you need 6 more for the 500 not to waste the clutch to soon.  I love my rekluse clutch.

The exp core won't handle the extra power, they are barely doing it for good 450's.

Z-Start Pro let's you use the clutch lever too (regular Z-Start doesn't but is good for those who want to run left hand rear brake lever).

One thing to note for those running hydraulic clutches, my buddy had the EXP in his KTM 450-SX and I've found he has to adjust it a ton, often mid ride (I've never had to adjust since putting mine in). Might just be that he's doing it wrong, but after seeing his experience I'm that much happier with the pro.

Hi Sean, Kenny H here, Do you also think I should buy 6 extra tc balls for my 500? I'm learning as I go here from rekluse man and you guys on Thumpertalk.

Let me ask you, The rekluse man said not to buy extra tc balls for a z-start pro for a cr500 but others say to buy 6 more what do you think?

I'm with the 500 Junky's above.

Also ruining the Zstart Pro in my 500AFc. The initial set up with recommended 6 TC was ridiculously pathetic! I all most took the clutch out- It engaged way to late... After going out to 12 TC it started to shine! Going to try 15 TC one of these days

12 TC really should be the recommended set up from Rekluse!

Its what we're all running-  Mickfly

12 minimum unless you want it to act like a hot rod race car with a high rpm kick in rpm. with 12 or more you will have the low rpm pull that 500's use frequently.

They should come with 12 for the 500's, 6 just pisses ya off cause it slips so much at low rpm.
